I have an 89 GXE and all of a sudden it wont shift on its own and when I manual shift, it wont go into 1st or OD. Anyone with some suggestions. Should I just start looking for a new tranny? Show a Maxima Brother some love.

 

Sounds like your transmission is shot. You could go get it diagnosed, but if they come up with something electrical in the transmission you have to figure if you have a lot of miles your going to have to replace it sooner or later so why pay the money to diagnose it and get it fixed when it is bound to go out. I got mine from www.phoenixhardparts.com and it works great. They are $775 for a complete transmission and torque convertor on e-bay.
