Hey new to Maxima's

Hi All,
Already this forum has helped me with alot of research.

I recently had my Jeep Cherokee head crack and needed a car quick. I stumbled across a 1997 Maxima SE. 210K 1 owner most hwy miles from Va to NJ. Car runs like a top!. Bose, Sunroof, leather, 4-3 month old tires, Dual power seats, auto climate control. and the list goes on.
It would not start, so after some research on this site, I offered $800.00 as is. I went and bought the iGN switch for $30.00 and it started rite up!

Had it washed and waxed and wow! What a nice car for 8 bills!!!

again guys thanks!

Ron

Wow lucky you. I bought my first car from a friend for $1200 95 maxima gxe at 130k. told me that the engine is still very good. a/c is awesome. it starts. but told me some things need to be changed. even said that the repairs won't cost much.

Including Labor:
2 Front axles need to be changed = $350
4 Tires + bad balancing + crappy wheel alignment = $450
another wheel balancing = $50
crank shaft sensor = $170
cam shaft position sensor = $150

Those are the damages so far. But now i have a leaking radiator and the hoses. intake manifold gasket needs replacing, and valve cover gaskets, and the rack and pinion bellow boot, and all struts.

Question is, should i keep fixing the car or just stop and look for another one? i feel like i got ripped off by people i trusted.

Oh btw, Hello all 4th gen owners! This forum is the only thing that gives hope for my new old car.

P.S. "I'm car illiterate. All the car terminologies i used here i found on this forum and youtube lol"

First. congrats OP on the $800 maxima, it sounds like a top-o-da-line gle lol. Prolly has another 100,000mi left in it.

-as for asianboitoi.. Google search after Google search after Google search. Thats how I learned how to work on cars (including my maxima). Before starting to learn I used to be afraid to change my own oil, now I can do suspension work, electrical, and light engine work and feel quite comfortable doing all of it.

Everything you need is out there if you have the time to read it
