Head gasket set install on a 1991 Nissan Maxima
I have a 1991 Nissan Maxima. Bought a Haynes manual and a head gasket set . I know the head gasket is blown because the oil looks like chocolate milk and i was getting back pressure coming out the radiator. Can someone tell me exactly what tools that would help me besides what the haynes manual isnt telling me and any extra tips ????this is my first time doing yhis kind of repair!!!!!!!!!!!

heh.. good luck!
A full compliment of metric wrenches, shallow and deep sockets, and allen sockets up to 10mm will be required. ratcheting wrenches will be handy as well.
once you get the heads off, you'll need to clean up the gasket mating surfaces and possible have the heads shaved/repaired if they're warped. that is often best left up to machine shops there. but getting the heads off the car takes only basic hand tools.
In order to get the heads off, you'll need a bigass breaker bar. they're only torqued to something like 120ft lb (memory number.. probably not correct), but after being on there for 20 years, they're MUCH harder to break loose than that.
oh.. and get a good torque wrench for putting the engine back together.
the good thing is the factory manual shows step-by-step everything needed to tear down and assemble the enigne.
the Haynes is a bit more user friendly, but lacking in details in many cases. download yourself a copy of the '94 FSM, and use the engine build specs from it. the '91 engine is the same thing in almost eveyrhting but the shape of the cam gears and the timing belt. the torque specs for that will all be the same though.
