my front 12v socket doesn't work, not sure if i need some sort of adapter, maybe something of this sort (http://www.ebay.com/itm/UNIVERSAL-12...d6084f&vxp=mtr)

or if i need to do something else? i checked the fuse, it is good. also the rear socket works.

It should work. But it only works when the ignition switch is in the ACC or ON position.

Does the one on the back of the console work? Swap the fuse with another one and see what happens. It's possible that the radio was removed and the wire for the lighter was not re-attached. It's also possible that the socket is bad.
