Hi my car at 2000 2500 rpm shudders then shuts off. I was told could be a vaccum leak in one of the hoses and to check them. I searched and found a hanging hose but I cannot find where it goes. I have attached pics of hose and being that I'm no mechanic so I'm lost. If any one can tell me where it goes or any solution it will be greatly appreciated.

 

Is your car auto? That is a transmission breather hose. It should not be hooked up anywhere

 

No vac leak.. a vac leak will affect the car at any rpm.. your problem is most likely a defective mass air flow sensor... replace it and check back with results

Check engine light on?
Usually a 2500 rpm limit is the results of a defective MAF sensor.

 

sounds like a mass air flow sensor bad i had same symptoms.

 

Replaced maf and at first idle car was not idling normal then revved to 3500 rpm n engine shuddered like before at 2500.....battery was not connected while replacement was done hoping that would reset the ecu

After letting the car warm up the initial problem of engine shudder at 2500 rpm returned....the issue seems to be when the car completely warms up .....any further advice would be appreciated Thanks

 

I also thought that the MAF was to culprit...Another possibility:

If you havenīt replaced the Coolant temperature Sensor (Not sure if thatīs the right name) in a while, do so...Itīs not expensive and itīs a good maintenance practice even if thatīs not the root cause of your problem. However, just FYI, the CTS does communicate to the ECU and it is able to affect driveability when failing. Hope that you get your car fixed man!

 

Can this part be replaced by me or do i have to go to a mechanic shop??

 

It is pretty easy, you just need a 17 mm (I don't remember the size), it is easy accesible by just removing the snorkel and the intake bits (The black intake tubing).

It's just a matter of disconnect & unscrew the bad one and screw the new one, and connect it.
