car shuts off when stopping

I searched first didnt find anything. When stopping the car will shut off when I push in the clutch, usually in the first mile of driving after start up. Also have been having a hard start issue, just cranks then eventually fires up. None of this happens everytime just enough to be annoying. any ideas? has a spectre cone air filter, and 150k. There is also a sputtering issue at around 3500rpm under any type of throttle.

Sounds like a vacuum leak probably associated with the cone filter intake. Post up the pics of the install including PCV routing.

the filter was already installed when i got the car and I noticed that the guy cut a hole in it and there is a sensor shoved in the hole.. not sure which on as the maf is in the plastic cylinder behind the cone. cone could also use a cleaning, its not bad but wouldn't hurt.

Likely it is your IACV that is dirty and needs cleaning. It shuts off when it is cold and you are coasting and braking correct?

Also that sensor is the intake air temp sensor. Everyone just sticks it somewhere near the filter. I have mine slid unneath the velocity stack as well

Awesome thanks! I did replace the plugs today and noticed that after unpluging the iac to try to get to the 6th plug it was a different car on the first drive. Then it was back to the same old. Has lots of power when everything is working right.
