I got a hell of a deal on some carbon fiber hoods from Fiber Images. These are top quality carbon fiber hoods gauranteed not to fade or warp. They can also withstand a 20 lb wheel being dropped on them, they're light as hell and look just as good. I'm getting them for $450 plus shipping which is just a little over wholesale. They retail for $600 everywhere else. If any of you guys are interested, let me know. I'm gonna need at least ten people to get this price. its a direct-bolt on? Does it use stock latch?

 

Yeah it bolts on real easy. I think it's two bolts on each side plus the supports. It will utilize the stock latch. No modifications needed.

in other words they aren't made for our cars yet, but with enough interest the company will do it! thats why there are no pics of it on a 3rd gen!

I'm def. game for one this Spring, but not until like May or so. If the deal is still on then, I will surely plop down the 50% up front if it's only gonna be 450!!!

 

hmm...all they need is ten people to make one custom? wow, i wish all things they don't make for our cars only needed a demand of 10 people for companies to make...especially if they're only gonna charge us 450. anyway, i'd be in too, but not for a while...if they do make this for you if you get 10 people will they continue to make this for us in the future?

I think the warranty is one year, but I'm not sure. At the very least it'll be a three month warranty. For the rest of you guys, all you gotta do is plop down $225. It'll probably take a month and a half from payment to delivery, so in that mean time you guys should be able to come up with the other half. For all those who are willing to put their money in within the next week or two, I'm gonna need a list of names. So shoot me a short email with your name and address so that I may compile a list of serious buyers. Hopefully, this will expedite the whole process. Once I get ten people I will contact everyone and request money orders for $225. Let me know....

maybe if you combine the deal with 4th gen hood, you can complete the deal much easier.

 

I can't do that because the 4th gen hood already exists. In order to get ours into production, we need ten people who will buy 3rd gen hoods. This will pay for the tooling and labor it involved in making these. They won't produce our hood if they can only sell a couple. They would end up taking a loss.

The only way you can use your credit card is if you go to your bank and ask for a cash advance. You can get that back in a money order and send it to me. Yes, this is only for standard carbon fiber. A carbon kevlar weave would be more expensive.

Forgive my idiocy, but what is so good about this carbon fiber hood? Lightweight?

 

supposedly lighter weight for better ET's well its somewhat true, they are VERY much lighter than the stock hoods...if I'm correct the 4th gen hoods are around 40lbs...while the CF hoods are in the teens(~12lbs I think), but IMO its mostly for looks and some don't look half bad on certain cars!

If this goes through, will they make a significant amount of extra hoods? I'd be interesting in buying one (as my hood has lost its clear coat and needs repainting anyway), but I don't want to ship out half on something that may not be made. If, in fact, it does work out, I may be buying one.

 

Come on guys get together on this one. Everyone *****es about the after market for our cars. Well heres a chance to make it a little bigger. All we need is 5 more people. If this dosent go through then I bet the company wont even bother thinking of producing another carbon fiber hood for 3rd gens. Or anything else for our cars.

sounds like something out of the locker room in a movie or something...i dono, i'm tired. anyway, i'm still out on this one for a while, but you are right about that, we only get opportunities once in a while. what is the practicality of spening 450 on this really? how much time would it take of your 1/4 mi?

 

if I had the money I would.....but I just bought my exhaust so my pockets are on E!!!
