Headlight Housings

Hello everyone, I own a '91GXE and i have a minor problem with my headlight housing units. As I look into the housing through the lens, I notice that the reflective coating is deteriorating, especially around the bulbs. This is not really serious considering that there is enough surface to put a visible amount of light on the road. I am using 9004 PIAA Superwhites (excellent bulbs) I just would like to have all the light they produce. Does anyone have any ideas on what I could do short of buying brand new ($171, Nissan) or used from a junkyard? I have a crazy notion. I thought maybe I could take an extremely fine grit sandpaper and sand out the surface, then reapply with a chrome paint? I am probably going to buy to new headlights, but I wanted to hear your opinions on my idea. Don't hesitate to tell me how rediculous it is. LOL Thanks

I don't think that your idea or sandpaper would work too well. you are better off buying another headlight, IF it bothers you that bad. Best 'O Luck

Well basically its putting the e36 bmw lights in place of the stockers, The e36 lights have a MUCH better light output then our crappy 9004s, which is the reason I am gonna do this at some point.

for details on the actual swap, do a search for "bmw lights" or "e36 conversion" or something like that.

Ah I see, yeah I have seen pictures of that conversion. I think I am just gonna grin and bare it for now until i can afford two new housings. I prefer to stay stock. Not to mention that the bmw lights aren't a perfect match and i don't like the idea of the hood sticking out over the lights. Thanks for the idea though. I appreciate it.
