A/C compressor not kicking in with button pressed

Well, I've done some research and I found this link to be most helpful, however my issue is differnt. ...link (http://forums.maxima.org/4th-generat...esnt-work.html)

I put my car in the shop to have my custom turbo kit installed. When I got the car back the A/C was not working. Now I'm not good with the A/C wording so bear with me. When you hit the "auto (a/c) button, the clutch should spin right? And stop then you shut the a/c off, correct? The comprssor is only 1 year old, my grandpa and I checked the pressure, and with the car at idle and a/c "off" both pressure readings are at 74 and 72. With the A/C button hit, "blue" side will drop to about 30ish and "red" side will rise to about 165. So we believe the system is still close to fully charged.

Now why would the clutch on the compressor NOT spin when hitting the A/C button?

By the way, no fuses are blown, and the relay works fine (i swapped it with starter relay and the car still started)

Can somebody also please adivse about the wires that are 2 yellow with black stipes and the white with red line. I thought maybe the yellow were backwards so i swapped them, and the clutch was spinning at all times.

I'm confused, if the pressures are changing when you hit the a/c (auto?) then your compressor is running. So what's not working?

Make sure you check the little black wire that mounts/connects to the top of the compressor. I accidentally ripped it out one time I was doing my alternator. Lol that had me more confused than mike Tyson in a spelling bee.

This is it. I pulled mine out accidentally when doing my upper oil pan.

The wire probably came out of the connector. Unplug the connector and turn the wire so it has proper orientation and it goes back in easily.

I'm right alongside njmax scratching my hemmoroids, too.

Could it be that maybe the heater fan isn't blowing the air through the ducts?

Air blows just fine. I went to the junkyard and got 3 sets of these wires, the plug down on the compressor works fine. (I have my wires spliced) When the 2 yellow wires are connected backwards the fan clutch spins constantly (the pressure changes when the A/C auto button is off)

So when the yellow wires are switched back to what they should be, the clutch does not spin, even when the A/C button is pressed.

Other things you might need to check: Hi pressure/low pressure switches in the A/C freon circuit (usually mounted under the hood on one of the A/C components like the dryer); also is the outside temp high enough to trip the thermostat to turn on the compressor, so you might need to check that. Since you are in TX, I would think it's hot enough. You can also put the controls on windshield defrost - that should turn the compressor on & blow air on the windshield. If not, ?????

If i'm not mistaken the a/c dryer is on the driver side of the radiator right by the frame rail under the battery area.

If so the high pressure switch is on it and might have become damaged or unplug when they installed the turbo kit since it would be in the area there working in assuming they installed an intercooler.

Did you have the system refilled? The system is designed not to engage if you're out of refrigerant.

I've already checked pressure guys...i thought i stated that arleady...

Verfied it was at 74 blue/72 red. With a/c off...it's balanced.

When I switch the 2 yellow wires with black on them, pressure drops to about 30 on blue and about 180 on red.....

Does anybody know if there's a relevance to the ecu?? AS STATED BEFORE, A/C WORKED PRIOR TO TURBO KIT INSTALLED. DIDN'T WORK AFTER I GOT MY CAR BACK.

Is the car's fans running with/without a/c switch on?

when you make the compressor engage does cold air come out of vents and the low side line get cold?

They vary, but usually run with with the a/c button pressed.

With the Yellow wires connected backwards, the line gets cold with the "A/C button" off. When you hit the A/C button gets pressed the air then gets to where is feels like the "ECON" button is pressed. The A/C clutch is running at all times when the car is on like this.

I should have mentioned this earlier since you have the AUTO climate control system.

Run the self diagnostics and see what that comes back with. It starts on page 70 of the HA section of the 1999 FSM.
