Raced a last gen Mecury Sable this morning

focker ran me in closed loop mode.. sux to be him

Light #1:

he takes off before me.. and i run a little spirited.. wasn't racing him.. but i noticed the focker is ahead of me by like 2 cars and constant.. so i say.. ok he wants to run ..

Light #2:

i am at the light and i am inching forward.. to get him into it .. light goes green and he takes off.. i am giving it 3/4 throttle .. door to door with him ... and then i hit mid 2nd at about 3500 rpms (sweet spot) and i just go WOT..

people if you have ever ran your car when its cold when the ECU in closed loop in 20 degree weather and you have a CAI and Y pipe.. its like a 50 shot of NOS compared to a normal warm car on a regular day.. i took off and i put 4 cars on him.. by mid 3rd Gear.. i had about 10 cars on him

it was just hilarious..

I am disappointed at you Sprite! Why you ask? For not spraying on that poor car. Next time find a Taurus SHO instead.

yes! it really does

especially when they think you own an AUTO Maxima and it run's high 15's low 16's the 5spd Accord and Civic boys are notorious for assuming that

Russ beats TT RX-7 you beat a Sable. I believe Russ's story over yours!

Btw I beat a 4.4 X5 on a highway run last night. They are pretty quick but once I was well into 4th it is over for him.

Accord V6's feel the same way - but when we're cold our VTEC doesn't engage so we only have one intake valve up to redline - it sucks bad One of the guys at AccordV6.com ran his car like that and he got a 17.0

I want a Maxima

LOL. Yes Bill, I recognize that the Maxima is really a Minima in disguise - that's a reason I didn't buy one in 2001. But 255HP and a 6spd have convinced me otherwise. Now all I need is somebody to chop a couple of inches off of my right leg and I'd actually be comfortable enough in one to drive/buy it!

I was thinking of an Altima 3.5SE 5spd as an alternative (since I fit worlds better in it), but the interior quality of my rental Chevy Malibu is about 3x better than the poor Alty's and that doesn't say very much for the Alty. So no Nissan product for me anytime soon

I am a little confused. What do you mean ecu in closed loop mode? How did you get it into that mode?

i don't understand how you fit in an Accord but you can't fit in a maxima? is the 4th Gen bigger than the 5th Gen? because deezo is 6"5/6"6 give or take and he is fine with his 4th Gen.. and another member back on Peel's BBS bought a 4th Gen over a 98 Accord because he had more room in the 4th Gen

how tall are you?

My legs are huge (thickness and lengthwise) and my right leg has about zero clearance between the edge of the center console/stack and the steering wheel. So my right leg gets sandwiched between the center stack and the wheel and there's no room to steer with my right hand.

I have a football player build. I'm not tall and slim - I'm tall and huge. I'd say my legs are probably about twice as thick as most people's - and that's where the problem comes I think, along with them being very long and sticking up in the air a bit.

I stopped by VOB Nissan in Rockville over the weekend and tried (again) to fit in a Maxima but couldn't. I watched some Asian guy get right into the same car and he fit right in and that's when I noticed how slim his legs were. He was pretty short too, though.

I'm 6'3", 270lb, and in general just huge.

I fit in an Accord because it has a "broken" center stack design that lets my legs spread out more away from the steering wheel, but in the Accord I don't have enough knee room, which was why I was thinking of trading it in. I don't fit all that great in an Accord either, but at least a little better than a Maxima.

I'm just weird

I agree with you on that one. My car feels so damn quick as it's just warmed up (not hto yet). Takes off like a **** when you step on it. Even the trans shifts harder.

haha i am WAY bigger than u and i fit in my 95 way better than an accord v6... shoot i was way cramped in the accord v6..

i think the maxima interior is way more spacous.. one of the reasons i didnt get a 3000GT VR4 but got a maxima instead...

In other words, you're only comfortable in a car when you can spread your legs?

before the car warms up all the way...the ECU is in closed loop mode running the car rich all the time...instead of adjusting the air/fuel ratios constantly for better fuel economy....I think the point that he was trying to get across was that his car was almost cold....so the air entering his cylinders was REALLY cold...and the extra fuel made more power.

Actually, closed-loop mode is when the ECU is making adjustments to air/fuel ratios. That's why the control system is called "closed-loop". Open-loop describes a control system that doesn't use feedback to adjust anything; this could happen at wide-open throttle.
