2000 maxima Manual Transmission Removal

I'm trying to remove the manual transmission from my car instead of paying someone $400-$500 to do it (tranny needs to get rebuilt). Is there a recommended website that shows step by step procedures on how to remove the transmission? Thank you

http://motorvate.ca/node/58 has some info, and there are plenty of threads about it on here. the procedure is the same for 95-99 and 2000-2001 cars with some very minor differences possibly. The engine and transmission (the meat and potatoes of the project) are essentially the same.

I'm stuck with the starter motor...does it come completely off or are the two bolts just removed?

The starter motor will come completely out once those 2 bolts are removed. Or else, why would there be those bolts

Good Point...i asked b/c even with the bolts removed the starter doesn't even move. Not sure if it has a seal or something holding it tight.
