Code scanner to reset p0430

So I have an smog inspection coming up and I want to reset the code on my 2000 maxima. I thought about replacing the pre cat but It's going to cost me too much money. I don't plan to keep the car for much longer, So I don't want to spend more money on it. I found some on amazon but people claimed it didn't recognize the code for their maxima, Can anyone recommend on that would work?

how often does the code come up? If you reset it and then go to the smog you wont pass, the ECU has to run through its "tests" (called monitors on smog) which usually takes like 50 miles of driving. If the monitors arent 100% ready you wont pass, and if the code comes on after driving for a bit then...

of course, it may be different in your state but if they do an OBD test like quite a few states do, thats the deal

Depending on where you live they most likely won't test you until enough sensors are "ready". If you reset it they will tell you to drive around for a few days/a week and come back.

I live in Maryland. Last time I had the light a mechanic turned it off for me and didn't come back up until about a month of driving. So I think if i reset it and let the sensors ready up I should be in the clear.
