I have a rather perplexing problem with my '00 Maxima SE, in regards my right headlight.
For years now, my high beam on that light has not worked. Recently, my low beam has also conked out. I assumed it was the bulb, but $50 later, realized it isn't.
I hooked up my volt meter. There are three wires to each light (bulb). At low beam, two wires should register 12V, and one none. Then with high beam, the non-voltage wire shows 12V, and one of the others goes to zero.
On the malfuctioning light, all wires show 12V? Is this a ground issue or a swich issue? Some help would Sure be appreciated!!

 

I know your from the great white north anf when I first got my car one of the solder points on the drl system circuit bored had melted off. All I did was reflow the solder and everything worked again. Have you taken a look at you drl module and opened it up??

 

Could be a bad relay switch???? You may want to swap out one of your other relays in place of your possibly bad relay just to see. If you live near a pull a part auto salvage you could walk on site and pull one of these for less than $5. I think the relays for headlights are the most common relay we have under our hood so you should be able to pull one from something else to check.

If you decide you want to go the salvage route you may want to take your bad relay with you so you get the right one.

The op is in Canada and those cars have a different headlight system because of the Canadian laws. Their cars have a DRL module (Daytime Running Lights) under the hood. You would have a good chance of being on the money if the car was a U.S. car. But with the DRL module, the relay is highly unlikely. Those DRL modules are a big headache for those guys.

 

open up your DRL module and check your soldering points. Am I kidding you? no I am not.
