You can use one from a 4th gen, but you probably already know that a junkyard starter isn't the best idea.
You can buy an American made starter at NAPA, which is way better than any of the Chinese made crap out there, and likely way better than a junkyard starter even if it's a good brand like Bosch. New American made starter = $120 and lifetime warranty.

d.stillwell... i know junkyard parts are not the best... i buy a rebuilt one (like new) at my local ''rebuilt store'' i pay 130-150$ CAN this winter and now since 3 months its start to grind a lot... i cheked for the flywheel and all teeth look okay
so i just wanted a junkyard OEM NISSAN one(40$)
. at canadian tire its listed 230$ so i dont want to pay that much... im looking for a new maxima 6th 2004-2005 so i dont want to put too much money on my car

I bought my last starter from O'Reilly Auto Parts with a lifetime warranty. The Napa starter I had on there before only had a 1 year warranty, and it crapped out a few months past that and wouldn't give me any wiggle room to replace it. So far the O'Reilly one is working great, as is the alternator I bought from them, which also has a lifetime warranty.
