Infiniti I35 Rack and Pinion Removal
Infiniti I35 Rack and Pinion Removal
Hey guys,
My power steering lost sigificant amount of fluid the other day, and my rack and pinion leak has progressed significantly to where I need to replace it. The manual calls for removing the exhaust tube, stab bar, and cross-member, but I was wondering if I could remove the tires, disconnect the lines and pull it out sideways. Does anyone know if I will have enough clearance to slide it out of one of the wheel wells?

Pretty decent write-up for a 4th gen, they're quite similar.

Corssmember is very easy to remove. Exhaust/y-pipe, not as much, but if you're taking off the crossmember, might as well do the exhaust since, well removing either or is not nearly as smart as removing both for a job like that.
