New Maxima! PROBLEMS though =(
Hey, i finally got my maxima after buying it a month ago. Before i brought it home i had the clutch, MAF, spark plugs, and master cylinder replaced. I drove it back from philadelphia back to long island fine, but it does have a few minor (potentially major) problems. It is a 2000 Maxima manual 5 -speed SE
1. When i disengage the clutch, theres this grinding noise that disappears when I press down on it again.
2. It is pretty loud to me, its all stock, but it sounds like theirs a dumb ricer exahust on their or something. I asked some friends and cowrokers about it, they said it didnt sound too loud.
3. The passenger side window does not work
4.the driver side window only goes up after pressing it about 20 times if its all the way down.
5. It is very hard to shift into gears sometimes, i really i have to force it sometimes. Especially lower gears.
If anyone can help me with any of these you'd really be helping me out.

Time to save for a six speed swap!
Take off the fill plug with a 1/2 ratchet end and feel for fluid...but it sounds like your just another victim of the input shaft bearing failing.
If you add fluid, make sure to use GL-4.
When you put the fill plug back on, do NOT over tighten it or you will never get it back out.
Just snug it on there after filling it to the brim of the hole with a funnel~the type with a hose attached to it.
You should check the flex pipe on your y-pipe to see if there is a hole in it also.

The window problems could be either the switch or the motor. You need to determine which one. I hope you have a voltmeter, because that is what you need for diagnosing.
If you measure 12 volts when you press the window button and the window doesn't move, you have a bad motor or regulator. If you don't have 12 volts, then the switch is bad. Don't forget to turn the ignition switch on when you are measuring the voltage.
Code:
This does not apply to the 2002 and 2003 models because the wiring pin numbers and wire colors are different. Also, the 2002 is different from the 2003 model. The power window motor is a DC motor. By reversing the polarity of the power to the motor, raising & lowering of the window is accomplished. Measuring voltage at the connector for window switch is easiest, as you do not have to pull the door panel off. Pop out the window switch (pry up on the front end) and the connector is easily accessed. The main window switch in the left front door has 2 connectors on it and the wires that go to the motor are in the big connector. ╔═══╦═══╦═══╦═══════╦═══╦═══╦═══╦═══╗ ║ 7 ║ 6 ║ 5 ║ LOCK ║ 4 ║ 3 ║ 2 ║ 1 ║ ╠═══╬═══╬═══╬═══╦═══╬═══╬═══╬═══╬═══╣ ║ 16║ 15║ 14║ 13║ 12║ 11║ 10║ 9 ║ 8 ║ ╚═══╩═══╩═══╩═══╩═══╩═══╩═══╩═══╩═══╝ Those pin numbers and wire colors are: pin 1 - solid green pin 2 - solid blue pin 1 is in a corner of the connector and pin 2 is right next to it. In operation: window up - pin 1 (green wire) is 12 volts and pin 2 is ground window down - pin 2 (blue wire) is 12 volts and pin 1 is ground -_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_- The other three door window switches use a different, smaller connector than the left front door switch. To remove the right front door window switch assembly, pry up on the front end. To remove the rear door window switch assembly, pry up on the REAR end of the trim plate. ╔═══╦═══╦═══════╦═══╗ ║ 6 ║ 7 ║ LOCK ║ ║ ╠═══╬═══╬═══╦═══╬═══╣ ║ 4 ║ 1 ║ 3 ║ 2 ║ 5 ║ ╚═══╩═══╩═══╩═══╩═══╝ Those pin numbers and wire colors are: pin 1 - solid blue pin 2 - solid green pin 1 is the second pin in from a corner of the connector and pin 2 is the second pin in from the opposite corner of the same row. In operation: window up - pin 1 (blue wire) is 12 volts and pin 2 is ground window down - pin 2 (green wire) is 12 volts and pin 1 is ground
