Maxima VS Kia Optima?

Ok, so this guy claims he could beat my Maxima in his moms "Kia Optima". He claims he can "slap shift" it and get it up to 160mph. So, question is. Who would win:
2001 Nissan Maxima GXE
vs
2012 Kia Optima.

Maybe?

2012 Kia Optima
Curb Weight - 3230 lbs.
TQ - 186 ft-lbs @ 4250 rpm
HP - 200 hp @ 6300 rpm

2001 Nissan maxima
Curb weight - 3186 lbs
TQ - 217 ft-lbs. @ 4000 rpm
HP - 222 hp @ 6400 rpm

I think due to the weight of the Maxima you might win

Believe it or not but unless you go forced induction the maxima are slow........

Here's some "fun" I had with a 02 maxima with some N/A bolt on. I do have a auto transmission though -_-

Audi A6 vs Maxima - Maxima got its *** whipped
Cobalt SS - ^
MazdaSpeed 3 - ^
Sunfire - I won
Acura TL Type-S (2nd gen) - pretty close

Basically I've come to the conclusion this car can't beat a lot of the popular FWD sports car with just bolt on

my friend has a TL 2001 model i think and he has CAI and exhaust, i have no mods and whip his *** all the time
but it is a decent car, no matter the speed i like to think its pretty fast for a sedan though.

I say kick him in the nuts for challenging you to a race with his mommy's car. Then smack him in the face for being stupid enough to do that and pop off about doing it at those speeds.

BTW, I'd be shocked if that car can muster those speeds.

I race a Mazda Speed3, beat it barely by half a car length. Those little turbos spool pretty dam good!
Whooped a Cobalt SS...
Haven't raced a Sunfire though id be pretty confident
I raced several Hondas and all except maybe 2 I anailated
Raced an IS350 and lost.
Also lost to a GTO.

I'm fairly stock... just a regular 4th gen... with a 3.5

I love people who make comments that make no sense...

Audi A6... do you have any idea how many different engines the A6 comes with???? I had one that had the legendary 12 valve... aside from being an understandable beast I knew that my Corolla was much faster than it... If it was the 5 cylinder turbo or the 4.2 v8 the A6 will kill you... aside from that all the rest of the engines 2.8, 3.0 are complete turds... take a look at the 0-60 times on those... horrible you add the quattro on top of that and the car is as heavy as a house... the newer 3.2s in have no idean, never worked on them or driven one... also you for the A6 you have 2.7T (twin turbo)... So point well made over here... do you research first then post worthelss comments...

Edit: looks like others beat me to it!

You don't give many details so it is pretty hard to respond to your claims of getting your *** whipped.

First, what was the race? stoplight to what? Or was it 1/4 mile.

Second, what do you run at the track - so we know whether you can drive. (you do have autotragic so that's an issue).

Third, specs on the cars?? I mean you say cobalt ss. Yeah, you would lose to the Supercharged and turbocharged versions, but you shouldn't be losing to a NA SS.

The A6 - there are a gazillion different models and engines. Which did you run. You should beat most.

The mazda - yeah you should probably lose to.

Notice, it is the supercharged and turbocharged cars you are losing to.

Finally, take a look back at what was available when the 2001 was on the market. Really, not crap. When I got my 2000, I was beating mustangs and holding with wrxs of the day (well, not off the line but from a roll) Since that time, the landscape has changed completely.

As an aside, my buddy had a 96 mustang cobra and he and I would be dead even on an 80mph roll. And, I beat him every time at the track - why? I drove my car better even though his was faster.

Oh, and to answer the OP's question. From what I see of the 2012 optima times, you should win fairly easily, if you can drive your car.
