RPM guage not working
RPM guage not working
hey guys,
i recently have to replace the motor in my 2003 maxima 3.5 Everything went well and i got it all back together and started it up today. cranked over on the first try. now i noticed that the RMP guage on the dash is dead. doesnt move at all. has anyone else had this problem? any advice as to where to start to look for the issue? maybe a sensor i missed or need to replace? any help is appreciated.

I believe off the top of my head its before the tranny meets the block around the flywheel close to where the cranshaft would be. The sensor looks just like the camshaft positon sensors.
Check the connectors and maybe take it out clean it reposition it and try again. Do you have the sensor from the old motor?

Possible causes:
Harness or connectors
[The crankshaft position sensor (POS)
circuit is open or shorted.]
Crankshaft position sensor (POS)
Signal plate
Try disconnecting reconnecting its ground. Its located next to the front valve cover on top of the timing chain. Then try to disconnect reconnect the harness located infront of the radiator cap to the far right of the o2 connectors
