recommendation for oil/filter for 2009+ Nissan Maxima
Go to Wal Mart and get a 5 quart jug of Mobil One and a Mobil One filter. And while you are there pick up a set of Rhino ramps, you will need them. And also a pan in which to drain the oil.
Also what model number/size filter we do need from Mobil One?
Thank you

Look Up and you will find the response, Wait if you don't here it is, not trying to be an a-hole..
For everyday, normal driving it is not what oil you use but when you change it which is more important. You can get a solid 175K miles + with cheap @$$ bargain oil/filter provided you change on regular 5k cycles. Worry less about the oil and more about when you change it.
Castrol 5/30 Synthetic Blend plus Purolator Plus oil filter from Advance Auto.
05 Max uses this from 2nd change and now @ 219k miles, and daughter has 09 and on her 2nd change....
Oil and filter changes r every 3K miles in my house....

I will likely use the XG7317, which is a slightly longer version.
Mobil1 %w30 synthetic and K&N oil filter has been working great on mine.
Only benefit of the K&N is that you can drive a bit longer before changing the oil (they claim 2000 more kms than the competition)

It is all about what you feel comfortable using on your car. Personal preference, but I would not use Fram on my lawn mower but that is just me. I worked at a Mitsubishi dealership and used to see vehicles come in that developed a tick in the valve train because the Fram filters are too restrictive and not enough oil was getting to the valve train. I have had 2 turbo cars that I have always run Castrol Syntec Edge with a OEM filter and have never had any issues.
Now that I have the Nissan and my oil changes and tire rotations are free until it hits 105,000 miles Iit get the OEM oil and filter. But when I have to start doing it my self I will use the Castrol Synthetic with an OEM filter. Now i hope this helps and do not want to start a which is better topic and as I stated it is just my opinion
Here is a great site for information on oil and lab results from people having it tested.
