Oil leak parts

Hello, I have a 2002 Nissan Maxima SE, and I've been trying to find the Original Newer Model OEM Oil cooler O Ring for a while now and with this try to start eliminating oil leaks, but I can't find an exact part number for this or a place to buy it.

Please guide me.

Thank You.

Do an advanced search for oil cooler and my name under 5th gen forum. I or someone has the listed part number(s). I suggest buying both, both fit and will best prevent potential future leaks.

I will look and find part numbers for both gaskets. This link gives one gasket and some other helpful information.

http://forums.maxima.org/5th-generat...oler-base.html

Edit: Found the part numbers. 1.) 21304-JA11A 2.) 21304-17F20

Purchase from www.nissanpartsasap.com which is a Nissan dealer. Great guys, call and talk to Ray or Wayne and let them know you're from the forums.

I have a question on this, Your saying I have to buy both of these o rings you posted? They look the same, are they? If yes, why but both?

You do not have to buy both. My parts guy found both and I bought them because I was not sure which I needed.

Some here indicate there is only the one. Maybe. However, upon doing my oil cooler gasket, I found that BOTH these gaskets fit. There is a valley where clearly the larger diameter gasket fits inside of it between two metal "tracks", held in place. The smaller gasket fit to the inside of the smaller track. So, I used them both.

If you search and read up on this issue, there were many members who reported oil leaking again, sometimes within a year or two of having replaced the one gasket. IMHO, if there is a propensity for a leak to re-occur, why NOT use both gaskets if they fit?! Also, I used a VERY thin layer of black RTV gasket maker on both sides of the gaskets. I am confident there will not be any new leaks for the next 10 years.

But, it's your call. I mean, both gaskets together were less than $10. Even if you choose not to use both, it's worth having both at assembly time rather than having to re-order and wait on the new part.
