Pretty decent? I'm not looking to upgrade, but looking at a few different cars and I know this one has bose. Just curious, as far as stock stereos go, how is it?

 

For me the Maxima sound system is pretty decent. But it depends on what you're looking for out of your system. Twenty yrs ago I wanted loud and booming; 15 yrs ago I wanted crisp, clear and a dvd player.

Ten yrs ago to now I wanted bluetooth, ipod connection and loud enough that I could hear it as I washed my car. I've found that as I've gotten older (I'm 47) the boom, boom, boom is no longer important and generally factory systems are adequate enough for me.

My "mods" now consist of bigger brakes, car detailing/cleaning compounds and wider rear tires.

 

I'm 31 but won't be looking to put much into my car as I drive 75k/year and move vehicles quickly. Maybe tint, but that's about it. That is why I look for the best stock offering (vehicle, not just stereo) for my needs/wants.

My wife has a M37 and I was curious if it was similar. I have been pleased with a lot of stock "non upgraded" systems lately. My RAM base system, not alpine or beats, sounds pretty great, imo. I need clean bass (not the shaking speaker in the door) and good mids and trebel. I like clean crisp music with a little bump with the bass.

 

I just picked up a 2010 SV. The bose system is pretty good. At lower volumes it's very biased toward the front center channel. As you turn the volume up the sound becomes more balanced around the car.

Overall sound is clean. Good bass, crisp highs, a little heavy in the mids (I wish there was a mid control)

The crossovers work well. Talk radio is directed to the front center channel and the dialog cuts through road noise at lower volumes.

I'm 42 and listen to talk radio in the morning, Rock and modern country on the drive home. Dont really see a need to upgrade this system but the 11 speaker Alpine system in my 2012 Jeep Grand Cherokee blows this system away!!!

 

I just added a couple small subs and it really helped the system. A single 10" and 2-300 watts would be plenty to really round out the bottom end.

 

I come from using very good components in my other Maximas. This time around I kept it pretty much stock. While I think the OEM system is a good sounding OEM system, I did make a couple of changes. I changed out the left & right dash speakers, as I found them too harsh. I used a pair of Infinity 3032CF 3.5" 2 ohm speakers. I also added a 10" Boston G5 enclosure with a built in passive radiator to help the low end. I paired the sub with a Boston 800 watt amp (GTA-800M). The system sounds much better now. While it does not sound as good as my other system, I'm pretty happy with it. The center channel speaker helps a good deal with system's imaging as well.

 

Just an FYI, a Bose radio is not stock ( at least in 2013) on an SV and not available in an S. It's an option that has to be purchased

 

To answer your question, I think it's great. People complain about Bose and it's issues with mids or having too much bass however it's balanced and I like the "imagery" that they equipped the car to have when listening to the music. The bass is great and I never have to put it to the max. It has good reverb and sounds "deep" enough for my rap tracks. It sounds like I'm sitting at a concert or I'm at an opera and the music is coming from the front of me. The rest of the speakers behind me just add to the imagery. I like it and it's better, in my opinion though many may disagree, than the Bose I had in my 6th gen. Another poster was right as well, Bose is NOT stock in the SV and unavailable in the S so be sure you are ready to purchase it.

I just picked up a 2011 sv with the sport package and Bose system it sounds good but blew the drivers side sub in the door , thank god it's covered under the warranty .

 

Your may want to either turn the volume down, or turn the bass down....otherwise it may happen again.

 

Get better quality audio that always helps prevent blowing your subs. I listen to hip/hop and music with a lot bass and blew my subs before, after I only download cd quality music.

 

I recently swapped cars with my dad and drove his BMW 335xi. One of the first things I noticed was how the stereo in that car was terrible compared to my Max.
The Bose system sounds very good. If you want thump, you can have it. If you want crisp and clear, it's there too.
If you go aftermarket, you can usually improve sound quality based on your tastes, but for a stock stereo, I'm very pleased.
This is the first car where I wouldn't fiddle with speakers or the head unit because of how good it sounds. Those folks at Bose do a good job!

 

It was blown when I picked up the car it was on 5 now I have it on 4 the bass that is .
