I second Exedy. I would recommend getting a solid disc opposed to a puck clutch. Smoother more for street.

You can get a 6puck clutch as long as its sprung you will be fine. The unsprung 6puck clutches are the nasty ones. But this all depends on what the OP is trying to do with his car.

What is the stock clutch rated for btw?
Not saying that it's NOT but i would be surprised that nissan
makes a crappy clutch for just 200hp or however much the maxima makes.

How much is "some power" i was making 220 whp in my 2001 maxima and my stage1 act clutch did really good. I would be steady racing too lol wednesday, friday, saturday, sunday, and even mondays sometimes.

my oem clutch has 207K on it??? why experiment with aftermarket parts? I did get an excedy clutch for my corolla 5 years ago and about 20K into the clutch the bearing went out and started to make noises... the clutch is still fine but bearing is a POS... no matter what type of a disk you get make sure you replace the rest of the parts with OEM... its worth it trust me

well I bought the car with 160000 and now it has 175000. no clue if the clutch has been replaced. if I drive lightly it drives fine but if I accelerate fast or drop the clutch it doesn't catch and just revs. I want something that can handle the abuse.

Get a stage1 from any of the brands mentioned on here. You will be fine.

exedy stage 1 clutch. I previously had the jwt stage 1. It was more than I needed and made the car tough to drive (for others . . . lol.).

Would have replaced with JWT but had to get the car back up. One of the springs on the jwt broke after about 120k miles.

Just do not get the clutch package deal from nissan. It includes a clutch that is well known around here to suck. If you are goint to go OEM you have to buy the clutch and throwout bearing separately from Nissan to get the true OEM parts.

I had an Exedy OE replacement on my 95 Maxima and I got 80k miles before I got rid of the car. I have no complaints about Exedy so far. I actually AM in the middle of a clutch job on my 2002 6spd and once again opted for the Exedy OE replacement. Got it for $204 shipped from Amazon.

For everyday use with some spirited driving, I recommend the Exedy just like everyone else.

Are you replacing the flywheel as well and if so, which one?

I kind of did this as an emergency job with a very limited budget so I left my OEM flywheel intact. Could not get it cut due to being a Dual Mass flywheel. No one in Chicago that I called was able to do it (and that was at least a good 10 shops) NAPA has an OEM spec flywheel under $400 which is SURPRISINGLY cheaper than IdiotZone and O'rly (O'Reily's) Anyhow... I just started working 2 weeks ago after being unemployed for a while and didnt have enough in my savings for a lightweight flywheel or OE.

I will tell you what I did replace though..

-Exedy OE spec clutch
-Redline MT90 75w/90 gear lube (good shiet)
-OEM Nissan Left and Right output shaft seal (axle seals)
-OEM Nissan Rear Main Seal/Bracket
-IdiotZone Duracrap Lifetime Passenger Axle (only had torn boot for 2 years lol)
-New Walker Y-pipe
-2 OEM Nissan crush rings
-OEM Nissan exhaust gasket

I'm sure there's a thing or two I may be forgetting but if you havent done the job yet, I suggest most of the items on my list. Good luck!
