2013 with 3800 Miles, New Short Block

Nissan is replacing the short block rather than the bearing, the mechanic told me at least 50% of Maxima's he works on have this problem. His only guess is it's not a recall because the motors aren't failing ( at least right away) and it's not a safety isssue.

You can read all about it here

Is there a price associated with this? Did the dealer give you a hard time about it?

8 months old and 3800 miles so it's under warranty. I let them hear the knock in person then I found the TSB and attached it to my night drop off sheet.

I was expecting a bearing replacement per the TSB but Nissan corporate said to do the block instead and authorized a loaner until repaired.

Still waitng to hear on some sort of extended warrranty as compensation, another member here got a 7 year/100K for a similiar issue, if repaired correctly that would make me happy as I keep my cars for a while
