Maxima 2002 Magnaflow exhaust system

Hello,

I really need help with getting a Magnaflow exhaust system for my boyfriend. He drives a 2002 Nissan Maxima. I have no idea about cars at all and I don't want to ask him about it because I want to keep it a surprise for Christmas. Everything is still stock on his car so I figured this is a great place to start. Can anyone tell me what kind to buy and where exactly to buy it from? I'd like to stay around $200. THANKS!

Are you looking at full exhaust setup? Just a muffler? Axle back system? Cats back?

You say exhaust system, seems more like you are just wanting a muffler.

Well I was originally looking for Cats back but I don't think I saw any in the $200 range. Could I get a full exhaust setup for around $200? Does a muffler help with performance at all or is it just for looks? I appreciate you taking the time to answer my questions!

Depends on your area, around here you can get a custom made one from the muffler shop for 300-500 for the full system. I personally want a cattman system for about 1200. Muffler is mainly sounds/looks. If you gut the precats open the y-pipe and run some pipe back deleting all the kinks and bends then for a open sound run a magniflow maybe 200? depends on how much you can do yourself and such

Okay, makes sense. What is your opinion on cold air intake vs short ram? I was thinking of going with short ram because we are in Utah. I'm worried about the snow. Would it not be worth it to take that route with most of our year being really wet?

I personally run a custom made short ram, if you don't do a true Cold air you will hurt prefomance. You don't gain really anyway it's more noise then anything really. I would do a properly made short ram with a good dry filter myself
