My 09 Max with 30k miles suddenly died

Gents,

Has anyone had this happen or know what might be going on? Yesterday I was stopped at a stop sign and not long after I started to go again, (probably up to 30 mph), the engine suddenly revved up about 2k more rpm's but it was like I was in neutral, and then the car shut done. It was like something j snapped and the tranny went out. At least that was what I thought happened, so shifted into manual to see if I could get a gear and that's when I noticed all the dash lights were on and the car was off. Once I coasted off the road, I tried to start the engine, but it wouldn't start. It is like the fuel has been shut off. Has anyone seen this before? The car has been towed to the garage. Doesn't seem good to me!

Thanks!

Hopefully it's just the battery but sounds like the alternator since it died while driving

Actually check all your belts

I can't see it being the alternator if the lights were on?

From personal experience if a belt or an alternator goes the battery will do its best to keep the car running which it can't so lights and such will stay on

The reason I say a belt or alternator is when u start your car the alternator takes over., if it fails the car shuts down...I'm sure everyone knows this

The engine revving sounds somehow transmission related to me... Not good. Hope it works out ok for you.

Definitely need a code reader or more information, other than that its hard to tell from those symptoms. Any check engine light or Voltage lights pop in the dash?!

My neighbor towed it over to his garage so we can check it out and decide if it needs to go to the dealership. I will stop by pull codes today. The thing that gets me is the engine rev and the car shut down. But, it shut down like the gas was cut off from the engine. Everything else is still working. Similar to how the gas is shut off when a car is in an accident. When you go to start it, it is completely normal but seems like the injectors are not getting fuel. I will post codes later.

Ok, the max is going to the dealership. Here is what we came up with at this point. And by the way, the car is running again.
Code: P0014 - Exhaust valve timing control performance bank 1.
Possible causes
- Dirty Oil
- Faulty Exhaust valve timing control solenoid valve
- Exhaust valve timing control solenoid valve harness is open or shorted
- Exhaust valve timing control solenoid valve circuit poor electrical connection
- Faulty Crankshaft position sensor (POS)
- Faulty Camshaft position sensor
From what I researched, the dealership will probably try to blame this on dirty oil. I have it changed every 3000 miles. The interesting thing is I had it changed just a few days before the car shut down.
Does anyone know if any of these possible causes are warrantied?
Thanks

With only 30k. The dealership should cover any major issues. Even though it's an 09.
I have an 09,just turned 24k. I have an extended warranty also cause I kno I don't drive a lot and went with a 6yr warr..
