RTH: Alternator Noise when Turning by hand?

Hi guys. I'm about to install a new alternator in my '03 and I noticed that the alternator is smooth and quiet when turning by hand in the normal direction of rotation (clockwise), but makes a strange clicking/bearing type noise when turning counter-clockwise.

Is this normal?

Thanks in advance.

It shouldn't make and noises regardless of which way you spin it. I would be concerned about installing that alternator.
