Nobody makes a thread when their car works perfectly fine and they want to rave about it. So here it is - my car works great! No problems here. Post if yours is working great too.

 

Its only been a week and i most certainly have no complaints.

Exactly, why should car problems and mod questions hog all the bandwidth. I have a stock 09 SV sport. Well almost stock I did put in aftermarket carpet protectors and had the windows tinted. it runs like a fine tuned machine. Absolutly the very best car I have ever owned. Fit, form and function has been optimal.

My car has been flawless for the 25,000 miles I've been driving it! Not a single complaint. And to make matters even more exciting, I don't even hate my dealer! Lol

I bet that poll would give results that show that EVERYONE is at minimum 80% in love with their maxima! Those are great numbers!

Ghozt - I thought you would never ask. Thank you for asking.

Five years and over 43K miles and still running as smoothly as a baby's hind end.

I have never had the alignment touched, and the OEM RS-A tires still have plenty of tread and are wearing very evenly.

I rotated the tires at 15K and 30K, and they run with no vibration up to speeds the mods don't want posted here.

The OEM battery was still doing very well when I wimped out and replaced it with a Nissan 700 CCA one after four years because of the troubles others here had reported.

I used 93 octane for 18 months, then switched to 89 octane (midgrade) for the last 3 1/2 years with absolutely no change in MPG and have not been able to detect any performance change.

I have the Premium with Tech, which gives a lot of things that could go wrong. Nothing has. I use my heated steering wheel almost every time I get in the car from the end of October until warm weater returns in the spring. I use the power sunscreen inside the back window all summer every year. My wife and I automatically change the seat, mirror and steering wheel settings every time we switch drivers, yet all work perfectly.

No rattles in the double panel roof. No rattles anywhere. The heater and AC work perfectly. The heated and air conditioned seats work perfectly. My dealer's Internet Manager (with whom I have dealt exclusively for eighteen years) says she will give me more than any book value when the 8th gen arrives because I have all maintenance done at that dealership, and she knows the car will be immaculate.

The only problems we have had with this car are keeping it clean (we just ended ten consecutive days with rain) and avoiding riding around just for the fun of it.

I have grown to love the CVT. I am now into my 65th year of driving. Lots of manuals and automatics, RWD and FWD. I find I prefer the CVT mated with FWD.

I dread the arrival of the 8th gen Maxima because I can hardly bear the thought of giving up this absolutely perfect 2009.

 

You should add a poll to this thread with what year the car is. From what I read here the 2009 model year seems to be the best which is odd.

 

I like my 14' SV Sport. Feels like a well built car, drives great and has some power.

So you passed on Nissans recommended 7500 mil tire rotations ?

When I had FWD cars I always did the rotation around 5 -6K miles.

When the salesperson told me about it, I was like "Pfft. Who cares? I wear gloves in the winter." Except I don't anymore because a few seconds after starting my car and activating the steering wheel heater, my hands are toasty. I find myself moving my hands around the wheel, looking for warmer spots.

Got the 2011 prem tech package new and now 35000 miles. Oil changes every 3500 miles or so the tires still good, Rotated after every other oil change. Still love the car, Not going to trade till the body style changes. But going to be hard to get rid of the ole gal.

 

Ghozt, poll added. Wasn't very creative in the wording, but the point will come across.

 

The only issue I've had was with the CVT. It was covered under warranty, so no big deal. Problems will arise in some cars, this is true for any make. I am very happy with my 7th gen.

I loved the car and that's why I bought it and I'm guessing most others feel the same.


It was the constant problems that I didn't like.

I drive a 2010 Maxima with tech package and extended warranty.
No engine knock. No problems so far.
Rear suspension was squeaking a little for a while and then it went away.
So nothing to complain about!

 

its simpler than that. if you have had problems id probably rate it lower than a perfect 10. i havent run into any issues aside from crap i caused myself so for me this cars been rock solid

 

Respectfully disagree. The Max had been far and way the worst car I ever owned repair wise and I would still rate it much higher than a Yugo that ran 200K miles without any problems, not that you could find one, lol


I though the topic was repairs not overall feeling.


I would still give the car a 5 even after everything into consideration but broken down I would give it a 9 in how I liked it and a 1 on repairs

I was stating it's been the only issue I've had & that I'm very happy with the car.

I am rather fastidious about caring for my car, and get virtually all recommended maintenance done by my dealer on schedule.

But I haven't always had the great dealer I have had the last 18 years.

I was a faithful rotator from the late 1940s up until around 1980 or so, at which point I weighed the time spent at the dealer waiting for tire rotations, the lug nut chrome being scratched and marred, the air hammer tightening the lugs to well over 100 ft pounds, the grease left on the tires and rims, and decided I didn't need the hassle.

At that point, I read everything I could find about tire rotation, and gradually came to realize that, unless the tires were not wearing evenly, rotating them had minimal effect. So I changed to a 15K interval over thirty years ago, and have not looked back.

I did not make this change lightly. I adopted a system to monitor my tire wear, so that I could take action if the wear was not even. I not only visually check my tires every time I enter or leave the vehicle, but also check the psi of each tire every two weeks. And I remember to keep the temporary spare at 60 psi.

But many folks do that. I go a step further. I very carefully measure and record the depth in each groove across the tread every three months. If the center of the tire is wearing faster than the edges, I reduce the psi a pound or two. If the edge is wearing faster than the center, I add a pound or two.

Once a year (and every time a wheel is removed for any reason), I adjust the torque of each wheel to 80 ft lbs. Yes, Nissan says 85, but 80 reduces the chance of wheel warping, and anything over 70 will keep the wheels on the car just fine (my son uses 70 ft lbs on his TL Type S). The result is a set of tires that wears evenly across the face of the tread, which not only maximizes tread life, but gives excellent stability and performance.

If I have a tire problem, I take action. But if things are working as they are supposed to work, I keep other folks' hands off my tires. Since I made that change to rotating at 15K, I have gotten excellent performance from all my tires, even the much-criticized Goodyear RS-As.

 

Nice write up ! When I bought my last tires at Discount tire you had to rotate the tires every ~6k miles or it voided the warranty according to them.


Since rotations were free and the tires ($22 cost per tire) had 100% replacement non pro rated warranties I can't see why they would do this if they didn't think it worked as it cost them $$ and they don't see other services such as alignments
