Adjust speedometer for tire size?

Hey all, I've searched high and low and can't find an answer to this question.

Is it possible to recalibrate the speedometer to account for changing the wheel size on a 2009 maxima?

I'd like to go from stock 17" tires to 255-40r20's.

I know that a 255-35r20 would be very close to the correct diameter, but I don't want to lower my car and would like to close the gap between the tire and fender a little, along with offering a slightly better ride quality.

Is it possible to reprogram the speedo?

Yes, you will need to get it tuned. I did it on my truck when I got 35s. There may be other ways but I know this way works.

Right, I've seen a number of people with trucks that have had it adjusted. I'm curious if anyone with a 7th gen Max has had it done? I'm thinking it's more common for people with trucks to want to change tire sizes (off road tires and such) so the auto makers might have made it an option. however, since there isn't a huge need for this for maximas, I'm wondering if they still made it possible. Ya know?

Most people with trucks change the gear, or have a handheld programmer.
I'm not sure a programmer is available for the maxima.

You realize that is going to lift your whole car, correct?

Ya, this all seems like more trouble than it's worth. Guess I'll stick with the 255/35-r20's. Thanks for the help friends

There are a ton of free Android apps FYI. I've used Carhome Ultra for other reasons but they are accurate-"real time".
