Dead car battery or screwy FOB issue?
Dead car battery or screwy FOB issue?
Hi everyone. First post. I did some searching and found some useful info, but my problem is now and any feedback is appreciated.
I have a friend on the way to jump the car, if that's the problem. Here are the symptoms for my 2010 Maxima.
1. FOB battery may be dead. It will unlock trunk from the outside, will NOT (edit) unlock doors or lock them. It won't engage the alarm. It doesn't engage the horn when trying to lock the doors. And the "noise" made by the locks when they try to engage is very faint, like the car battery may be dead.
2. The car won't start using the regular push button method OR when the FOB is inserted in the bay. The LOCK, ACC and ON buttons will light up when the button is pressed, but it won't start. It's lifeless.
4. Radio, lights, dashlights, horn, etc do not work when car is either in ACC or ON mode. The KEY dash light works briefly when I put the FOB in the bay or try start the car. Otherwise, the car is lifeless.
I'm open to the idea that I drained my FOB battery. But my understanding is that the car should still start using the FOB bay.
Thoughts?

OK, thanks .... I will know soon enough.
I ran across the thread on the expensive-sounding steering lock issue and started to panic a bit. Called the dealership and he said my car wasn't on the list (forgot the term he used) to have the issue looked at.

The steering wheel lock issue is only for the 09's...
