Cooling fans upgrade help

I was going to post this in the "Advanced/Peformance" section, but I figured this is more of a general question.

I have a 1999 Maxima (Turbo'd) and it currently has upgraded fans (Slim). One of the fans came loose and melted on my downpipe. I'm sure it can be taken off with some work, sanded down and fixed. I'm afraid of the same issue though happening again. This causes the fuses to blow and no fans to work even though one is perfectly fine.

Are there any other options to upgrading these? Keep in mind, my original fans wouldn't work due to my piping for the turbo. I'm wondering if there is a giant single fan upgrade....

There are a few select posts on the slims....but are there other options?!!?

Try checking out the older VW Scirocco "slim twin" electric fan setups. SummitRacing, Jegs, JC Whitney, EBAY.... all are good places to start looking.

You can run a different size radiator, half the length but a thicker core that way the pipe to that side will clear. Or use that padded foil where the contact is and see if that helps.

Build a heat shield for your down pipe, wrap it, or apply ceramic coat it .....this I s way I ceramic coated my Cattman Headers there are really too close for comfort to all the plastic under the hood in the engine bay....

Sheet metal heatshield and have the fans stay on with ignition. I melted down a couple and after I did this no problems.

Why not control your fans through a thermal switch or bulb? Here's a link to Perma-Cool and on pg 18 -20 are wiringcand thermo switch fixed or adjustable. You'll like this it's awesome: http://perma-cool.com/catalog.pdf
