I've had pretty good luck with the Borg Warner stuff (commonly known as BWD) that can be gotten at your local parts store ... here locally this part runs $116.00. P/N S8619.

The Hitachi was the OE part and can be gotten at the same parts stores for about $98.00 ... P/N KNS0001.

Find the cheapest one you can get online.

The cheap knock sensor from amazon.com worked for me. No problems.

Instructions for replacement are on this forum as well. Blood is likely, yet hundreds of dollars stay in your pocket.

P.S.

Rather than post "quick question" about an unknown topic, why not post what the topic is.... more people would help you.

The knock sensor has been covered extensively.... do a search.

they're easy to replace if you have small hands (or a girlfriend that does). get 2 cheap ones off ebay/amazon if you're worried bout it. most say oem but they don't say nissan on them

Unless you have a 99 cali spec, then you need to rip out the upper manifold to reach the damn thing.

I also have a harness and knock sensor from Ebay. Super cheap I think it was like $15 for both, and so far no codes for me!

Feel free to disregard this post ... apparently you don't need to spend anywhere even approaching the near vicinity of $100.00 and you can do your shopping from the comfort of your sleep number bed.

Here is my worry about cheap e-bay KS's is that it could very well be nothing more than a 470k ohm resistor dressed up as a KS, hell the could be taking old dead ones and installing a resistor in the harness after they clean it up really good. I mean there has to be a reason why they are so much cheaper, a resistor only cost $.30
Idle, I don't think I want to take a chance of getting a big knock one day and the ecm didn't know it and blow my motor because of a resistor trick KS. I plan on going to the junkyard and looking for a good Nissan KS, if it doesn't work I can promptly return it and pull another, I'm sure I can find a good Nissan one for cheap, with a little pita

If i had an ebay resistor in my car i would here knocking, i know necause i ran a resistor for a year. I do not have any knocking. There have been many to run ebay ks's here and no issues. Dont be ruled by fear.

They are cheaper beacause mass productiion and low cost of materials. There is no justification for a $100+ ks period

The $100 pieces are only worth $5. Your just paying $95 markup.

It's only a damn piezo resistor like in a cheap tweeter, costs nothing to make. EBay ones work fine, I've got one too. If the KS is bad the car performance sucks.

Yes but if you throw in a 470k resistor in, the car would run fine too, you just simply wouldn't know if its really going to work until the engine knocks really bad and then you want to hope that its a real KS. Because if its just a resistor telling the ecm everything's fine, then guess what...boom goes the motor. The other reason. I'm going the junkyard rout is because I know the owner and I sometimes get parts for free!
All I'm saying is be weary with the e-bay KS, perhaps make sure it truly detectes knock and dials back the timing. Just because it shut your MIL lamp off and the car runs better doesn't prove **** to me. I want to see them actually decting knock. Its too important of a part and you motor really does rely on proper function of that sensor to detect knock and keep the motor safe. I'm not willing to take that chance. I have enough anixitey issues I don't need to be worrying about if my cheap e-bay sensor is truly doing its job.
Anyway if I can't find a good Nissan one at the junkers, I. Will go the eBay route, and just keep my fingers crossed.

I bought one from ebay it was ok, just that It didnt shut off my check engine light, but the car never knocked with it. I had it for a year, then bought one off amazon for $11, that one seems to work great!

Knock sensors dont turn on check engine lights, so you had another issue.

Ebay is fine; got mine for like $20. However, if you have doubts, check out Rock Auto, they can provide many options and market price is like $50.
Sometimes Ebay is good; starters, alternators, struts, brakes, other sensors at deep discounts. The dealer or any Store front places are a joke!

What proof is there that ebay knock sensors are OK?

No knocking? No CEL?

A bad KS has no knocking and no CEL either.

No knocking, no codes, and full power.

Bad KSs dont trigger CELs.
