Getting Good Gas Mileage

I've been tracking my fuel mileage and the latest update is 25MPG with a 40/60 mixture of highway/city driving; frankly, I'm amazed. 1998 Maxima GLE, automatic, with almost 236K; bone stock and the original powertrain, it's eaten a couple of Auto Zone alternators, but all original except for that. These cars are pretty amazing.

Ive had many passes down the drag strip with my 99 and at 227k she still takes me to work and back with no problems. A little love goes a long way with these cars

1996 @ 220,000 +

@ 220,000 + I regularly drive mine back and forth from GA to KY and she gets around 28/29 on the hwy. Original tranny also and bone stock..

Even though I've had her since she has had 24,000 miles (2nd owner) and have kept up with all of the service, I really baby the tranny and start very slowly and let her change at her own pace.

She's not the prettiest thing on the road but she has a good heart...8^)..

2003800km's dealing with a bad coil pack and a couple of body TLC needed, otherwise is a great car! And has never left me stranded, even when problems arise that would cause most engines to shut down and not start again until. I have always been able to limp home with major missfires, was even able to limp to the mechanic when the alt. Seized! Love this car!

This is where I want to be with my 1998 Maxima GXE 5-speed. Currently sitting at 85,500 original miles, she treats me well. Beats VTEC's all day!

During the summer, I get 31/32 mpg with mostly highway driving with aggressive acceleration. The winter gas drags it down to 27/28 mpg. I have 220,000 miles on a 98.

I also try and mix 2 ounces of the TWC-3 marine oil into the gas.
