Double Shimming a VQ35?

What "Shims" do people use in their "double shimming" experiments on 3.5's???

VQ30 sure, I can double shim those buckets but...

VQ35DE? Rev-UP? HR? Da fuh you use to "double shim" those buckets?

Lets say I want HR Cams w/ HR springs, HR Retainers and HR Buckets in a 3.0 head what duh fuh do I double shim with?

You shouldn't need to double shim the buckets, that's only ever been done on 3.0 engines.

What shims? Which has been my question.... 3.0 shims? b cause 3.5's do not use shims.....

[edit] The answer I've been looking for is here...

http://forums.maxima.org/1626393-post5.html

I've been going about this all wrong, the goal that you guys have been talking about was to increase pre-load on the spring, not shimming the buckets (which is what I thought was going on).

Back to work for me.

i'd like to point out
a) i'm the one that finally found the answer to that question

and

b) there's a missed opportunity to respond to nmexmax that "i searched and saw those, but they didn't have what i'm looking for..."

Can someone educate me (Readers Digest version) on the shims. I've not done head work on the VQ30 or 35. But, I know on the VG that hydrolic lifters are used and fill the gap between the lifter itself and the rocker arm. I also know the rocker arms have little steel "caps" between where the aluminum rocker and the top of the lifter meet. Are these caps what everyone is referring to as a shim on the VQ's?

Just trying to understand a shim. In my mind the hydrolic lifter should be filling any gap once it pumps up. Though, it makes sense that by having a larger shim, it would in effect increase how far open the valves travel each time they move. I can see the benefit of doing that as opposed to modifying the actual cam.
Thanks!
