Confirmed : 6-speed HLSD coming !

I just received word from my dealer that the 6-speed HLSD I ordered back in early November is currently statused as "SEA TRANSIT" and is scheduled to be in the dealership early February. They were able to provide me with a VIN as well. Finally.

I got word today that mine isn't expected now until April. The car was ordered in late November, and contracted for February delivery, but the dealer says the listing he has shows April, though another (loaded) HLSD ordered earlier is still marked to arrive in February. The dealer is puzzled by this delay, too, but thinks it may have to do with the absence of options on the one I ordered (just HLSD, mats, splashguards)--he's supposing that the cars get built in batches, and that orders are being filled first for more decked out models. Maybe...

Mine moved from "January" to "I don't know". The dealer said to call him this coming monday and he said he should know more. He's already gotten some of the other ones he's ordered in already. He wasn't sure why mine was held up.

The fact that they were able to give me a VIN makes me feel a lot better. The manager at the dealership I ordered from said my car was easy to spot on the manifest as it was one of the few tagged as "CO" or "Customer Order". It is apparently among 800 cars on their way to Elizabeth New Jersey so I would imagine there will be quite a number of HLSDs and more 6-speeds on their way here. I don't believe all 800 cars are Maximas, but still - the ship is coming. The status was SEA TRANSIT as of January 14th, but I have no idea where at sea. The next call I get will be when the car is in port and then it shouldn't be more than 7-10 days from there to the dealer.

Sounds like you're well set here, Greg, and will be seeing your car within a month or so. Me, I think I'm getting bamboozled a bit with the delay in delivery now until April. This effectively voids my contract, if I choose to let it, since it specifies delivery by February 28; so I guess I could get my deposit back (+interest ) and buy something else. But I really want that Maxima, and waiting until April to take possession of a new car in view of the sloppy, salty winter climate where I live (Wisconsin) probably makes sense in any case. Still, I think I've been given the run-around here...and I'm not optimistic about any rebates still being available during the spring car-buying season, either.

Re: Waiting it out...

Well good luck to you. Waiting it out until April seems like a long time, but when you get the car I'm sure it will be worth it.
