5th gen transmission in a 4th gen

You mean 6th gen 5 speed auto. 5th gens never came with 5 speeds, the 4 speed auto was the sole choice until 2004. And IIRC, it's the same 4 speed auto from 2000-2003 and even before that so should work.

The I35 was produced from 02 to 04.
Something tells me that the 04 I35 was the only year that had the 5-speed auto. Kinda makes sense. Last hurrah, never had the Maxima's 6-speed manual etc.
