2011+ Exhaust tips compatible with 2010?

I'm tired of my dull looking exhaust tips, they don't clean up well & I like the looks of the 2011 and up chrome tips. I'm wondering if I could simply unscrew and swap out the tips with the newer version.

Anyone know if this is possible? At least until I'm ready to buy aftermarket exhaust.

No. You'll need the entire muffler(s) to make the swap. Technically called "axle back".
For an aftermarket solution, Stillen has an axle back exhaust for this purpose.

I was afraid of this. Do you happen to know if the newer mufflers are a direct bolt on to a 2010? In the event a see a pair cheap enough...

Yes, I would think so. The only thing that changed with the design was the rolled tips on the newer models.

Bummer. I was just thinking about trying to do the same thing with my 2009. I HATE our tips.

I also like the rolled edges better.

When I went to Discount Tire the guy noticed some changes to the car right away. He said finally someone who did it right. At first I didn't know what he was talking about...he then mentioned the car being lowered, having the roof wing, black grill, and the rim spacer combination. He walked towards the back and asked me if the exhaust was aftermarket, I smiled & said nope, that's bone stock.

There are some who like the "rougher looking" edges of the 09-10's tips but I agree that with the 7th gen's styling the rounded tips are a better fit.

I'm coming from a Z w/ aftermarket exhaust that I kept really clean which causes me to get frustrated when I can't get my current tips remotely clean looking.

@ 96blackmax - car looks nice man, exactly what I have. Did you plastidip your grille or paint it? It looks like your hamburger is also blacked out, I'm trying to decide between chrome or blacking that out too. You have a link with pics of your car? I'd like to see the grille & side view of car to see roof spoiler. If not, no biggie...

Wow I'm surprised people don't like the earlier exhaust tips, The new ones remind of the Altima and the old ones look way more aftermarket.

Also jd-max I know what u mean when it comes to cleaning the tips, the black soot that accumulates. Believe it or not I use turtle waxs version of goo gone, spray it on the inner part of the tip, let it sit for A few and it legit wipes new

Also the product is safe for all finishes

I used PlastiDip on the grill. The hamburger is also black, the "NISSAN" letters are painted the same color as the car.

I have to agree with you on that, they do look aftermarket. I did a double take when I was first looking at the car because I thought they may have been aftermarket. I like the way they're styled, just don't like the metal they used.

Awesome, this may change my whole view on these mufflers lol! I'll pick some up and try it out on my next wash. Thanks for the heads up!

Cool man, unique idea with the hamburger.
Did you also plastidip the hamburger & did you do spray the grille while on the car or take it off? Is the plastidip on the grill holding up and looking good? Sorry for all the questions.

No problem, I also had questions before doing it.

I took the grill off the car. I washed it with dish soap to make sure to get all the gunk off from the road. Once it dried, I used alcohol with a very thin rag to get into all the tight spots. Once it dried again, I started spraying the PlastiDip on it. I used four coats total & I let each coat sit for the amount of time it said on the can. I left the hamburger on while I was applying the PlastiDip.

I had my whole grill blacked out until my sister's boyfriend gave me the idea to paint the letters.

I've had the PlastiDip going on a year pretty soon. That includes some 1,000 mile round trips to Northern California. So even with all that driving on the highway it's held up very well. I just recently found one little spot where it had come off. Maybe a small rock hit it right. I was thinking of peeling it off, but I then just sprayed some PlastiDip on some cardboard and used the back of a q-tip (wood part) to put it on. The spot was very small, & doing this covered it. You can't even really tell I did anything to that spot.

Great, just the info I needed! It's encouraging to hear that the plastiDip lasts quite a while. I like your "touch up dip" method lol. I think I decided to go the paint route, as you'll see from my older post that you were subscribed to. But I may play around a little with my 2010 stock grille & plastidip in the meantime.

Thanks again for your help bro.

No problem.

I think painting is the way to go. I just wanted to see how I would like it with the dip, but it's held up so I just left it on.

If I go with the newer grill style, I will paint it.

Getting mines painted soon, looking forward to it.

Also, gotta go with the rolled exhaust tips FTW. Even when I had my '09 SV, I wanted the rolled tips at the time. To each their own, though.

Cool man, post a pic once it's done! Did you get a quote for it yet? I'm thinking it should run about $50 or so...

Yeah, $60 to have to custom painted grill (chrome outer border of grill and Nissan emblem painted gloss black and Nissan letters painted same color of car -- metallic slate KBC color code) and center caps on wheels painted gloss black.

That's worth it for me as the wheels will be off the vehicle anyway when the drilled/slotted rotors go on. Also having the calipers painted gloss black.

Looking forward to it

That's whats up, it'll look great! Is it a sport grille? So your leaving the center "fins" of the grille unpainted and OEM color (chrome if it's a non-sport or black chrome/gunmetal if it's a sport)?

Yup, a hyper-silver grill (gunmetal colored fins) and I'm leaving them alone just doing outer-border of grill and center emblem.

I'm basically getting rid of all the chrome on the car
