2014 SV Sport driver seat
2014 SV Sport driver seat
Does anyone have an issue or noticed that the drivers seat is not as comfortable as past models?...I don't understand why the seat doesn't go back far enough and why they made the thigh extender on the bottom of the seat higher then the rest of the seat bottom...I find it presses on my thigh as I'm driving and it's annoying. Has anyone else noticed this and if it's not just me being crazy is their anything that can be done about it?....Nissan should of made that part of the seat not only extendable but also able to be moved up and down for height comfort.
I love the car (I have 2011 SV though) and I was OK with several small isuess since when I purchased it in June 2013, except for one... Right from my first (about 45 min) drive home from the dealership, I felt discomfort/tention in my left leg. It seems like the sourse of pressure is in left buttock (pardon me) area, and it spreads down along the leg. Almost feel like it is a sciatica, except for I do not experience this when sitting anywhere else, and also I never experienced this with my previous 1998 Maxima, which was extremely comforatble to sit in. I tried adjusting the seat in any possible way, but it did not help. I guess I have to live with it until I change the car (although I do not want to). Probably no more long distance trips for me from now, unless I practice very frequent stops to relax the leg

I know this is talking about the sv model with leather package, but anyways I have the s model with cloth. I was over leather as I had it in every other car I owned. I must say though these seats are the most comfortable of any car I've owned, and I'm a person who bad surgery for a herniated disc
elevit, I experience the same exact issue as you (I'm fairly young and about 6' so nothing unusual otherwise). I have a 2009 SV. This is one of the most uncomfortable seats I have ever been in. I used to drive 1 hour each way to work and was always in a lot of pain. I now work from home so it's that big of a deal. My wife also noted that the seat is unusually uncomfortable as well.
One thing I have found that helps is take a hand towel and fold it in half and roll it up. Then place it in the crease of the seat on the left side. I have found that this helps bring my pelvis forward and helps to take some of the pressure off.

The comfortable seats were one of the selling points in my buying the Maxima. If you feel pressure on your thigh you need to adjust the seat tilt to make the car seat more horizontal. It is a trial and error process until you get it right.
I've had the car for 5 years and tried endlessly to get the seat adjustment right. For my body, there is just something this seat does not fit well...
Thank you NCSUpilot. I will try the towel. I am 5'8'', so nothing unusual either. Same as you, I have tried all possible combinations of the seat adjustments, and it didn't help. It is very frustrating since the vast majority of the owners say the seats are very comfortable. I do not see or feel any defects on the seat, so I do not understand why it is causing so much tension on the leg for me / us... I like my Max otherwise.
Thanks.
Thanks.

I've had mine going on 4 years, I'm 6-2 and I'm quite satisfied with the comfort level of these seats (heating issues aside). I don't feel the need to use the thigh extender, it doesn't add any comfort or support for me.
My seat is positioned as far back as it will go and it works fine in that position. I can definitely see where taller drivers could need more leg room though.
I always try to make this a top priority when buying a vehicle thus is another reason for vehicle test drives as it's almost impossible for any one seat design to conform to the thousands of unique body types and sizes.

We just shopped for a car for my wife and I insisted on an extend test drive - i.e. - taking it home and using it for a few days. This really helped me get a feel for the seat comfort. After driving about 5 different cars, each seat definitely shows if it will work or not for me.
