MP3's and Music Server

From what I can understand the Music server is only for recording of the cd's, is that correct? I was trying to find how to put the mp3's from my usb drive on the server but couldnt find any way and didnt see anything mentioning it in the manual. I hope there's another way as most my music is single mp3's and not whole albums. It also takes a while to read the usb drive, is that cause i'm using a 32gb drive? Its the only size I have around, so havent tried a smaller one yet.

I had the hdd on my '11, but it doesn't appear at all in the owners manual for my '14. Apparently Nissan gave up on that one.

It was really kind of a PITA, for me. I didn't use it often enough to remember how to navigate the menu, and that distracted me while driving, so I didn't use it, leading to a cycle of "don't, so won't". I played music from it maybe half a dozen times in three years of ownership. Instead I plugged the USB drive into the port in the console, which was on my model.

It would be arduous, but you could rip your mp3s to .wav and record them as CDs, then transfer them to the server. It would take a while, but that is one way to do it. I don't think it will copy mp3s from CD-R's, I think I tried that.

No mp3s unfortunately. I keep an iPod connected for all my music and just loaded a few of my most used playlists onto the music box as backup. (Used a rewritable CD and burned from iTunes)

Really dumb design though, who still uses CDs. You'd think a software update could fix that.

Yes it's useless. I got my car used and I dont think this feature has ever been used on my car. The usb port is too slow and when I would shuffle all my music it would shuffle them in the exact same order. I have like over 1000 hand picked songs and I like to shuffle em. Can FFWD or REWND. And whenever you start the car it starts of at the begining of the playlist?/song. I use bluetooth to stream straight from my phone.

I still have a lot of cd's, so I just uploaded a bunch of them. I like having another source for music. I do have to agree that it's not the easiest to use. When I pick albums from one artist it puts other artist in there too.
