AVS window vent visors, which ones do I get?
WeatherTechs are expensive but they are probably the best because they are low profile. They mount with pressure instead of 3M tape.
The ones that mount to the outside can fall off and can also be torn off during car washes. Plus they leave residue that you have to take off with goo gone. If you plan on tinting you car ever, make sure you get it done first before you install vent visors. If you have vent visors installed, it makes the tinting job that much harder.

Although I'm probably one of the few, I had a bad experience with the weathertech in channel. They never did sit right and I had 2 sets fall out of the front. In my opinion they would probably be fine with some 3m in the front instead of just pressure, as they recommended, but they are very problematic on any car with the automatic window up feature.
Not to completely knock weathertech because they do make really nice quality products, their customer service was awesome! When the first set fell out, a quick call to the company was all it took to get a free replacement set. Their stuff is rather pricey though.

I had bad luck with the in-channel ones also. I added more 3M tape to all of the edges. I let it sit for two full weeks while I was on vacation. Came back, rolled the windows down and back up... CRACK! Broke the rear one. That was it for me. Took 'em off and returned them. I wish they would have worked because I prefer those versus the ones that stick on the outside. Oh well - guess I'll have to just leave my windows up when it's raining and blast the AC when it's hot out.

With the 3M adhesives being as good as they are these days, I believe that I will be trying a set of the stick on ones when the weather heats back up. I figure for the price difference, I could get a set, and if they fell off in a few years, but another set and still come out cheaper. My only dilemma now is to go with the avs slim profile ones that have the matching chrome trim, or black out vinyl the trim and get a set of the traditional stick in ones?
Anyone have experience with the the low profile avs visors?
I threw on a set of 'outside stick' black (no chrome) AVS 94100 vent shades six years ago on my '09, and they have given no trouble. I always use vent shades down here in the heat of middle Georgia, otherwise, I must leave the windows closed, and the sun bakes the interior to a crisp, and the interior materials tend to break down over time.
I had an equivalent set on my '04 SL, and a rear one came loose. I simply cleaned out underneath the shade and put a new piece of 3M double-stick tape under there, and it never gave any more trouble.
The in-channel versions of ventshades probably look better, but I have the Premium package, which, until a few years ago, had automatic up-down windows on the rear doors as well as the front (rears were deleted a few years back), and some folks were having trouble with the in-channel vents and automatic windows.

I personally would never consider in channel visors again on any car that has automatic up windows. On a previous car, they would work fine for a few days, then randomly hiccup and catch and be a complete pain in the rear, just to work fine the next day. There is nothing like getting caught in a rain storm, trying to roll your windows up, and having the safety feature roll them right back down because they were hitting your stupid visors. They are nothing but trouble when mixed with automatic up windows!
