Not ReAlly sure what's going on here but my accessory outlet keeps blowing fuses not really sure why. I'll replace the fuse plug something in it'll work for a few seconds then pop every time. Anyone else have any advice or a similar problem? Thanks a lot

 

How much equipment are you running on that circuit? Have you added up the draw of all the equipment?

Do you have any mods that tapped into that circuit?

 

Is it popping it with nothing plugged in? Or is it popping fuses with something plugged in? If so ohm out your equipment that you're plugging in it has a short!

 

It only pops when I plug something into it the only mods are an aftermarket stereo so I wouldn't think they'd be on the same circuit? I'm thinking there might be a short somewhere?

 

whatever you plug into it then it blow is what's causing it to blow, I use to have a car charger that does that

 

When the circuit blows, does the stereo stop working?

 

If it blows with nothing plugged in, It is as simple as a bad power outlet. if it blows when you plug something in, try several different things, could just be a bad power plug. Also look in the acc port and make sure there is not a dime or penny in it. they are a perfect size to make contact across the + and - and will blow the fuse every time.

 

Ohm out the object you keep plugging in! It's shorted!!!!

 

I would like to add one more thing to check in addition to the excellent suggestions that CMax03 and Jason1979a have given you.

Check that the fuse for the cigarette lighter is a 15 amp fuse, which is blue in color. Maybe it somehow got changed to a lower amperage fuse. But whatever you do, DO NOT put in a higher amperage fuse than the 15 amp fuse.
