Cost of a front bumper respray?
Has anyone done a front bumper respray recently? Mine is pretty eaten up and now that I've taken the plate off I have not only two holes in it but you can see where the license plate bracket rubbed against the bumper and left perpendicualr lines. Most people won't notice but us car guys do :/
Since it's plastic I am not sure how a cutting compound would work; even something like a clay bar does not seem like it would do a whole lot. Plus the fog light glass is hazy so and there is a scuff on the bottom from a concrete parking lot thing so it's pretty bad all around.
I would take it off, do the prep then have it resprayed but I was curious if anyone has done it recently. I am hoping if I do the aforementioned procedures that I could have it sprayed for >$300. Fingers crossed! I plan on doing the LED bar mod soon but I would rather have it painted first so I don't mess anything up when I go to remove everything.
Thanks!

I was just lightly rear ended and was given $575 to remove repaint and reinstall my bumper.
I have a buddy who does touch ups for the dealerships in the area........I would find one of those and talk to them,,,,,,I bet you can get it done for under $300

yea 300 for a low end job that doesnt blend any other panels, closer to 500-600 if they do a good job and blend the adjacent panels to match. personally? I dont cheap out when it comes to paint anymore...a year ago i had my front bumper cover repainted and went with the cheapest option and 3 months later it was chipping up; found out the shop didn't even use clearcoat. -_-
if there's one piece of advice i try to give everyone - you get what you pay for 99.9% of the time.

I absolutely agree ghost you get what you pay for and don't complain when you save a couple of dollars ... There is a reason .my wife's mom works at a reputable shop in town in Florida and she said $200 my price so i would guess around $300 tops for a front bumper . My bumper has be en getting eaten up from the previous owner not removing the love bugs from the bumper and it ate they the clear coat. .
Your idea of doing the prep work is not a good one. Reputable shops would just rework what you did and do it the way they prep things. They would not warrent any work done by the customer that could cause a paint failure down the road. Best to give them the bumper and have them do it 100 percent. Talk to the shop manager and find out eactly what the shop will do on preping and painting beforehand and what the warrenty will be and what they will fix if needed later on. One more thing find out what their preference of bringing in the bumper only or bumper on the car.

Cool, thanks for the help guys. I will make some calls and get some estimates here in the next week or so. Too bad I can't rattle can this
I was looking at a few 11/12's yesterday and the difference is huge. Weird seeing a Max with a shiny front bumper! Mine almost looks wet sanded. I bought it up in Chicago so I assume road rash or salts; headlights are in excellet shape though but down low is rough.

Mine is so badly pitted, chipped and spider webbed that the prep work would end up being more than ordering a new bumper and having it sprayed. My mom ran over a dead deer and forgot to tell me about it. My fog light assembly was cracked and it ripped both plastic guards underneath the driver's side. I replaced all the plastic guards by myself and got quoted to repaint. The quote was around $700 without ordering a new bumper from my usual body guy.
Prepping a new bumper is easy and some shops would probably let you do it yourself to save some money. It's as easy as using the fine scotchbrite pads and then cleaning with a solvent of some sort.

How easy was it to replace them?
