A/C Clicking Noise When On.
A/C Clicking Noise When On.
When I turn the A/C on there is a rattle click type nose and recently it's
gotten a little louder since I changed the belt.
I'll have to check this weekend, but IMO right now I think it's the clutch bearing that is rattling and broken.
Just like in this video. It's a good watch btw.
Do any of you know where I could buy the clutch assembly for the A/C?
A new unit is over 400bux!
Replacements clutches look to be alittle over $100.

Generally if it was the clutch assembly has a bad bearing it will rattle when the clutch is NOT engaged (ac off). If the compressor is making noise when engaged, then the compressor could be going bad. Also in my experience the compressor will make noise like this when the ac system is overcharged. I could be entirely wrong in this case, but thats just my two cents.
Most of the time if there's a bad bearing it will make noise regardless if the A/C is on or not. Those parts rotate whenever the engine is on so if they're bad it wont make a difference.
The clutch on the other hand is only engaged when the A/C is turned on. So it's either the clutch or the compressor. I posted a thread several years ago where I cleaned up the facing surfaces in the clutch. Maybe some of the info there will be of some help.
