Baking Headlights/Dual Halo/Painting Housings (Pics Included)

This is round 2 for me of baking my headlights except the first time I only painted the housings....THIS time it's repainting the housings Crimson Black, taking the chrome all to Black Chrome and installing 70mm halos on the low beams and 90mm halos in the high beam areas. Below are pics so far of cutting done, painting, fitting, etc:

I thought the halo went on the outside of the opening not the inside. Will you be able to see it from its current position? The paint looks good tho

Thanks! Yes you will be able to see....I've already tested it myself and there's been a couple if guys on here to go inside as opposed to outside.

That looks sharp. If it were me, I would have gotten rid of the amber reflector while I was at it. I don't have the guts to open up my headlights, so I shouldn't be judging but I really like the look. Please post some pics of them all lit! Do your high beams have a circular blackout on them now since you have the halo sitting in front of the actual output? Also, is heat a worry for you on the actual halos? Even though the high beams are rarely used constantly, the afterthought of having them on when driving on a dark road may raise concern for me if they will melt the halos.

Love the stance on your car, too. What are the specs? May want to get someone who is good in PDR and get that dent out, too.

Looking nice! Im debating either a matte black or a gloss black myself. While I want to do most mods myself, I think I'm going to have to contract my headlights out to Ghozt... Just have to figure out what to do about a temporary car or temporary headlights otherwise!

Pics lit up will come first thing tomorrow! I'm not too worried about the highs and the heat on the halos since I live in the city and hardly ever use them...even so I don't think any melting should occur!

Thank you on the stance....it is sitting on Eibach ProKits with a 20mm offset in the front and 25mm in the back.

Yes that dent drives me nuts....pretty sure it's from a shopping cart....it's an intense one!

Thank you brother! There are portions of this project that were satin black but smaller housing/shroud portion is actually a gloss crimson black to match the car color!

Thank you brother!

No go on the trim...that Dupli Color Shadow leaves a speckle-like look that I wasn't digging at all....

Also, I'm digging the halo being on the inside, makes it so it's not as thick/bright looking as if it's on the outside. More subtle, and can create a "staggered" look

Looks great! and the fact that you don't see the full halo circle gives it kind of a mean look lol.

Exactly what I was thinking man! It ended up creating a more subtle look which I liked and also hid the big white circle when off!

Thank you brother! I was definitely shooting for different....I think the partial halo accomplished that. I wish you could better see the crimson black housings but maybe I'll get some better shots in direct sunlight soon.

I was afraid it might not be that great. My Tamiya spray is hard to keep even... Gotta figure something else out or get it professionally done. I'm just going to wrap the window trim in vinyl for now.

Definitely. Let me know how it goes...I'm not too mad at my chrome so I'm not in too big of a hurry to change it up.

I like the tapered look of the halo in the high beam area. Don't shoot me but it looks a lot like the new halos (angel eyes) that you'll find in the BMWs, and it looks cool.

Any more info or photos of the LED DRLs you have on your brake ducts?

Damn that looks sweet! I love the angel eye look the BMWs have and think it looks great on a majority of cars (especially those with HID headlights). Something I want to mimic on my 2012 also. I'm not mechanically talented like you so I'll probably have to take my car to the shop to get it done to my car if I chose to in the future.

Haha no shooting brother....that's somewhat the look I was going for! Custom but subtle...

I actually got the lower DRLs on eBay and love them! I wanted it to be a pretty inexpensive project so mission accomplished on that...will get some more pics of them up for you soon!

Thank you! Yes I definitely love the look too....you should just read up and do it though. I think you'd be surprised!

That looks nice. I'm not a fan of it on my car but it does stand out and if done right looks like stock. You did a great job and I like the LED running lights as well.

Thank you brother! I know what you mean....different mods for different cars. This one seemed like something I would never do but it grew on me, but I had to make it unique with the partial halo/stock look like you mentioned. It's more subtle than I thought it would be which I'm glad for!
