Hi guys I have a 2010 Maxima s with 68k miles on it, and it has always ran great and today my check engine light came on and I noticed when I hit the gas it's losing power for a few seconds then will take off its even worse on hills but after a few seconds on the gas it will take off and the rpm needle will go to about 3-4k then come back down fast after letting off the gas, Not sure if the rpm thing is normal or not I really have never paid attention lol. When I went to auto zone it came up with CODE: P0774 and they said its the Torque converter clutch solenoid, So heres my question has anyone had this problem before and if I have to replace it how hard is it, And about how much does the solenoid cost Thanks for any help guys I Really Appreciate it

 

I hate to say it guy but you're in for a new CVT. the good news is that you have a 2010 and your CVT is covered under the 10yr/120,000 mile warranty the bad news is it will probably take a week or so because most dealerships don't keep them in stock. Good luck

 

I don't understand why the transmission is already bad its only 4 years old and has 68k miles that is ridiculous, so this means I am going to be replacing a transmission every 4 years or 68k miles lol. I did some research last night after posting and seen others having the same problem and replacing the solenoid and was working again. Just seems to early to replace the whole transmission

 

Also I just went out to my car and to get the book and it says


" Powertrain Coverage 60 months or 60k Miles "


so I am out of luck having them fix it aren't I ?

 

if it is the engine you are out of luck, but Nissan covers the cvt for 10 years and 100k miles.

 

2010 Maxima "66K" lost power and check engine light came on "P0744". Took it to the dealership to get checked. Diagnosed as CVT failure, will be replaced under warranty "10yr - 120000 miles".

Finally a good experience with the the stealership.

 

Yup, 2009 & 2010 models have this coverage. Nissan replaced my CVT at 57k miles.

 

did you ever change the cvt fluid? did you ever get the cvt warning light?

 

what's the warranty on the replacement cvt ? check with dealer!

 

I thought it would only be for 12 months or 12k miles, but the dealer told me I had the coverage until the car had 120k miles.

 

Yup - you'll still be covered under warranty. Whereas it is possible for you to replace the solenoid and it isn't wildly expensive, you won't get the solenoid from Nissan. It will come from Sonnax (only company I've located). Otherwise, if it goes to Nissan (which I would advise), they won't service the transmission or repair - they will replace it. Long love the CVT!
