Serious Starting Problem....------>

Ive had a weird staring problem for a while now Every morning when i go to start up my car it stalls out. Now, i just changed my starter a lil less than a month ago so i know its not that causing the problem. It only happens in the early morning when the car has sat for 8-10hrs. But during the day it never happens, only when its ice cold. So what i would do is gas the car right after i turn the key to keep it running that way it wont stall out on me.

Could it be my Optima Deep Cycle Battery causing this?? or maybe a sensor?
Any help or advice is welcome

thanks,
Anthony

I know it has worked for others (myself included) so have you cleaned your throttle body?

I had the same problem. I cleaned the throttle body and no more starting problems. If you haven't cleaned the TB in while then try that.

I have had the same exact problem for the past month. How do you clean the throttle body that the others talked about?

I was going to put this link in too , but I went there and had trouble bringing up the instructions at the site. Maybe it's a temporary thing. You can search here on throttle body also.

Once the car is started your starter and battery are no longer required for the engine to run - so rule those out. Describe the symptoms a little better, ie: does it try to idle above 1000, does turning the steering wheel keep it running, does smoke come out the exhaust? I ask this because your idle is controlled by the IACV (idle air control valve). ALso, when you turn the steering wheel or turn on your A/C an actuator bumps up the idle. Is your fuel filter clogged? Is it so cold that maybe your fuel is starting to freeze? More symptoms please.

I had this problem intermittently a few years back when I purchased gas from Costco (yes, the warehouse club store Costco). It would happen on cold mornings, and when I start up the car, it would hesitate and the RPMs would drop for a second. Sometimes the car would stall, but usually the ECU caught on and added enough gas to prevent it from stalling. It was actually kind of interesting to watch, since the RPM's at startup would idle steady at 1200 RPM, then dip in a flash to 350 RPM and catch back up to 1000 RPM. It never really bothered me though, since it happened like once every few months, and if the car stalled, it would start right up and then no more problems.

I have since stopped buying Costco gas.

Are you sure you cleaned the TB and the butterfly enough. This fix has worked for many people here.
