Nose area paint discoloration
Nose area paint discoloration
I have a pearl white 2013 s model and a few days a go I noticed that the paint on the front end nose area seems different from the rest of the car. It looks more beige or yellowish, has anyone else had this issue or am I going crazy.
Are u referring to the bumper? If so it's probably been like that since u bought the car and never really noticed it, I've seen a lot of people here mention that issue with the off color. I have a pearl white as we'll, I'm not much help because I had both the front and rear bumpers repainted because of scratches and nicks so mine are color matched 100%, but can't remember if they were off or not
Different materials
Hi everyone, I'm new here, have an 09 sv dark blue (can't remember what the official color is) and I've noticed the same thing. There's just a bit of difference in the body and bumper.. From what I was told by a buddy who professionally paints cars, this is because of the difference in materials. You could definitely take it to get color matched, as I'm sure Nissan doesn't have the time to get this perfect every single time...
Anyway, I hope this helps...
Good luck!

One way to tell if the bumper has been replaced, I.e. In an accident, is if you look closely at the paint job, it should be smooth, if it's dimpled like the skin of an orange peel, it has probably been replaced at some point. You could look up the carfax, but like Wikipedia, it's unreliable...
09maxjoe hit the issue right on the head. It is due to the different materials, and Nissan cannot color match all the different materials to be "perfect" without spending more money. It is not really noticeable on the silver, but my old vehicle was gray and the issue was definitely more dominant. Both vehicles purchased new by the way, and you can easily tell that the bumper was of a lighter shade of gray than the rest of the body. Front and rear bumpers were affected.
However 09maxjoe, that is not really a consistent way to tell if the vehicle was involved in an accident at one point. There are many bumpers out there with orange peel on them and it is just that more apparent with our plastic bumpers. You can tell that the gloss isn't as strong as the rest of the car either. In addition, the replacement of the bumper cover from a body shop could be in better paint quality and condition than what the OEM looks like. YMMV.
