Proper grease with polyurethane bushings
Proper grease with polyurethane bushings
I'm considering upgrading the rear sway bar and endlinks. Before I do that, I want to make sure the bushings will have the proper grease. On my old car, I did the same upgrade, but the squealing was so annoying after the grease had dried up. Don't know if I had used the wrong grease or not, but didn't have time to disassemble everything and re-grease it. However, this time around I just want to make sure the bushings are properly greased once and for all. Can someone recommend the proper grease that can be bought at auto parts store. All I know from a basic search is that petroleum based grease is not for polyurethane bushings.
And did anyone have their RacingLine sway bar setup with the inner holes and stock endlinks running for a while without any issues?

Hello there sir,
Yes, just like you my polyurathane bushings did dry up and squeak at one point and yes up until early June I did run the stock endlinks on the inner hole of the RL sway bar from December to June with no problem.
When I got the Racingline endlinks I ended up going to the outter holes and noticed that the ride got a lot more comfortable (less stiff) so I left it.
In regards to what grease to use on polyurathane bushings. The absolute best lubricant that you can use is Permatex 80078 Anti-Seize!!
I have tried everything from the Prothane Grease (recommended for poly bushings) to white lithium grease and even Super Lube. They all encountered the same problem and dried out and trapped dirt within days/weeks.
After some extensive research I found that antisieze was the highest recommended lubricant and after greasing that thing with the antisieze I have had no issues. Even after multiple undercarriage car washes withing the past month and when I checked the bushings not even the excess antisieze was affected by the washes.
FYI, unless you're going to track your car, it is my honest opinion that there is not much to gain from going to the inner holes because even on their outter holes they say it is still stiffer than their competition, which would be Stillen.

If you buy the racingline sway bar, it comes with a pack of Formula 5 Prelube for you to use on the new poly bushings. I've only had my sway bar on for maybe 3 or 4 months and i haven't heard any squeaking.

Another question. Any of you wound up using lock tight on the nuts for the endlinks? Don't know if they will loosen after some time.
The install overall is very easy once you have everything in front of you
