2011 Maxima Dual Moonroof - Shakes when closing

Hi,

My 2011 maxima has developed a problem when closing the dual moonroof/sunroof. Upon closing the tracks shake / stutter. It closes all the way and seals, opens fine with no problems.

Is this a known problem?

Thanks,
RM

Sounds to me like a little grease is needed on the moving parts. Probably just hanging up and shuttering during its cycle.

I have a 2010 and mine does something alittle different that just started, when it's completely closed it'll make three clicking like sounds after, weird

Someone else check there's and let me know if that's normal

This is/has been experienced by numerous forum members. My garage door closes in the same fashion from time to time, it's like it's racking.
Even though I know I shouldn't have to, like the steering wheel exit/entry function I limit my use of these features due to the known issues surrounding them.

Go to the dealer, they will fix it for free.

Can this be fixed by adding a certain grease to this? If we can do this at home this would be great. I don't want to go to the dealer, they take forever to do things.

When my sunroof started doing this I first tried WD40 (don't do it) it attracted a lot of dust, and I currently live in the desert . After I cleaned it off I next used white lithium grease which works a lot better. My roof opens and closes smoothly now.

Mine started doing this as well. Not always, but it's annoying. Thanks for the tip! I will give that a shot.

My '09 double-panel roof opens and closes very smoothly. If this roof is not opening and closing smoothly, then either something has gotten out of alignment or something has broken or something needs lubricating.

Thanks for the tip. Where exactly do you apply the grease to stop the noise and how much do you apply?

use white lithium grease (can get a tube at autozone,Orelllys, pep boys) and a small paint brush( I use one with the metal tube handle about 1/2 inch wide, I call them acid brush) and open the roof and very LIGHTLY paint on a coat of grease where ever any pieces slide togeather, DO NOT put it on heavy cause of getting it all over.
