i know this will make some mad but, i don't agree with installing 2002 stuff on a 2000. i mean we all replied to a thread about not using other cars emblems, for example a BMW on a TOYOTA.

So how is it okay to replace rear 2000 lights with 2002? You are just fooling ppl, so that they think you have a 2002, instead of a 2000... If you dont have the dough to buy a 2002, come to indy i have a money tree, or just let the 2k be 2k. Poor car probably has self-esteem issues!!!

again nothing against anyone here,,,i just wouldn't do it myself...HIDS are a different story though. I can agree with doing the HIDS,,,

People have different tastes. Not everyone wants a 2k2, but they might want parts off a 2k2 since the parts will make the 2k-2k1 look different and unique.

 

No ... this will make them mad: 4th gens are faster than 5th gens!

man...if u think installing 2K2 parts on 2K-2K1 is wrong, then HID can't be an exception..other wise, ur just a hypocrite.
like Kev said..everyone here has different preferences...if u don't like it, then don't do it. some people have already sent alot of money modding their cars(like me), and quite personally, i'm not going to trade in my car, buy a 2K2 and start all over again. besides, it's STILL maxima parts..we're not using OTHER car parts or anything..like u said

I don't see how you can HIDs are ok, but not the tail lights. I agree with you about the Toyota and BMW thing. But this is nothing like that. Kev and Irvine have good points. You are taking universal parts for a 5th gen maxima and replacing them. If someone wants altezza style lights for their 00-01, then taking the 02 tails is the best solution. Those people are not necessarily trying to fool people into having a 2k2.

but yes it is my car, i bought it, i drive it and i like it. just because i have the ae sills doesn't mean i'm trying to pull it off an ae ... i have a bad habbit of buying things that i think look good.

 

HID = better night vision/safer @ night , 02+ tails = doesn't improve anything in terms of driving experience/safety or anything.

 

thats like saying u want the AE kit, shifter and sills because u want to be an AE, i know i personally got the shifter and sills because i like them a lot not because i wanted to be an AE

I think it's cool...I personally like the 2k and 2k1 tail lights better than the 02, but they are growing on me...Now, I can't argue with you for getting the door sills and shifter! Those are just plain cool!

why modify something that is already a good car, talking about putting thousands of $$ being wasted, specially if a Max is your point A-point B daily transportation...

 

If it had a 2k2, i'd switch them for a 2000-2001 SE lights..

sweet u will love the sills, the AE shifter is a pain to install a lot of cutting and grinding
