What DO you like about thr 7th Gen
What DO you like about thr 7th Gen
So here's a thread that this car deserves! I have had 2 6th gens and this car is miles ahead for the most part. Specifics
Looks- better looking and still looks good compared to new cars
Interior- for a leather modern interior it is well done and I like the thick steering wheel as well as the seats and cushioning. Plenty of space for four
Transmission- engine is nice and solid. Cvt is really not that different from a conventional auto in my estimation. Paddle shifters and sport mode are fun and do exactly what you want on the street. If you want to turn this into a track car go buy something else.
Price- second to none compare to a loaded 3 series bimmer or a C class. Obviously Infiniti's G or whatever it's called now is so similar with less price tag. I have been in two G's and hilarious that I got the same car for 3-7k less for the same stuff.
Enjoy the the thread. And I loved this car so much my wife stole mine and I bought another. I can't think of another car that has some style, grunt, class and uniqueness of this car.
PS-Altima doesn't compare as it is newer in gen and it's also everywhere. It's a class below interior and exterior. Not knocking it but it's not the same car.

I like the the dash layout and the seats.
I like that the car has HID lighting.
I like the fact that I was able to get my Maxima WAAYYY under MSRP brand new.
Exterior styling and the darker appearing taillights standard on 2014s.
I wanted to get the sport package so I could get the much better looking wheels. Since the rear seats down't fold all the way down on the sport package cars, that was the deal breaker for me.

What I consider the biggest complement for my car, when it was bone stock, was when a little kid, maybe age 3 or 4, and his dad walked by it in the parking lot and he screamed "Look Dad! A Ferrari!" The dad replied "That's not a Ferrari... what is it?" I tell them it's just a Maxima.
But the look is great and I love it. People have used the word "classy" or "fancy" a lot. The 7th gen carries that characteristic at certain angles. Nonetheless, the car looks aggressive and fierce from others. The body lines do so much for the car, positive and negatively.
The stock 18s and 19s, particularly in the 09-11 models, are probably the best looking alloy stock wheels, in my humble opinion. They look sporty and complement the car well.
I like the layout of the dash, steering, seating, shifting - it all feels like everything is where it's supposed to be. The screen isn't too low or too high to be utilized well and safe enough for navigation. If we had a manual option, the shifter feels exactly where it should be. When I'm sitting in it, I almost feel like I'm in my own space-ship/fighter.
The stock sound, non-Bose system (Clarion), was actually quite decent and I might have actually considered keeping it, especially for the built in 6-disc changer.
Power seats. I really like the range of adjustability, particularly the ability to pitch forward or back. I can make the seat sit high and straight for "spirited driving" or a bit more pulled back and relaxed for just cruising. Undeniably nice.
Good steering response and handling, stock. The car did take some getting used to (coming from a '98 Camry), particularly due to size, weight, and amount of body roll, but I was surprised how well it handled despite that. It's notably better now after lowering and adding the rear sway bar.
Good power. CVT issues aside, the car feels like it pulls well and acceleration is excellent.
Trunk space.
Glove compartment space. It's astonishingly large. I managed to place a small sized, about 13-14" fire extinguisher in there and there's still plenty of room.
Rear seating is quite comfortable. I was surprised to see that the seating is an easily removed, light weight foam (not the backing). At least for the S model, fold down seats.
I'm sure there's more but I gotta get back to work! lol

I love the proportions and lines of the car. I love how around the front its fat, then slims down as you pass the doors, then a nice fat ***. Its just a beautiful design. with the 20/25 spacers its just evens everything out perfect.
I love how the Maxima looks, there's just nothing looking like it on the road. When this car was created no cars were wearing those bulging fender flares and then after it came out now all of a sudden Camaro has a huge rear shoulder, Jag shouldered out their car, Acura shouldered out their car and a few others threw out some bulges in their rear 3/4 end.
My car has been totally reliable and virtually problem free despite being T-boned by a Ford F-150 (it was totaled and my Max only suffered minor injuries and no airbag deployment when only 2 weeks old).
I receive many compliments on my car even though it is an 09 and the model has been refreshed, some people cannot believe how little I paid for my car, this car still gives people whiplash.
I love pulling up to these new hotrods and whatnot and I'm not even impressed by the look of their car but I can see them if they're on the side of me staring and checking out my whip or if they're behind me I peek through my shades and tinted windows to see them oogling.
I see plenty of cars out there and they just don't turn heads like this car.

My '09 was built in Sept 2008 (SIX years ago), and has had NO problems during those six years. I have been driving since the late 1940s, and have never before had a car this trouble-free.
I love the styling. Coke bottle shape, impressive haunches, Italian style lowslung grille, etc.
I love the heated steering wheel. Without that, my wife would have to do the driving the cooler half of the year. Those here with ages in their eighties and nineties will understand what I am saying.
I love the power rear window screen. I use this to protect the rear seats, parcel shelf and rear seat passengers the hotter half of the year.
I love the air conditioned driver's seat, especially down here in middle Georgia.
I don't accelerate from startup very briskly, and don't drive over 80 MPH very often. But when I am on common two-lane blacktop roads, and have a short passing zone, this 7th gen will scoot from 35 MPH to 75 MPH in split seconds; almost takes my breath away.
I love the double-panel roof because my three grandaughters love it, and I love them.
I love the roomy trunk, which makes packing the car for vacations rather easy.
I love the extra bracing behind the rear seat that helps this car perform tightly, level and beautifully at speed on curvy, twisty roads. This limits the rear seat opening to the trunk to a small opening, but for me, the tradeoff is worth it. Those needing the entire seat to fold will need to settle for the 'S' or 'SV'.
I finally adjusted to the CVT, and it is now my favorite tranny. I am getting better MPG than expected for a 3600 pound near-luxury car with a 290 HP power train.
I love the glove compartment that seems to reach almost out to the front grille. I have never seen one nearly this deep before.
I love the hard drive music box. I have all the music I could ever need, and don't have to have any kind of phone or device or CD or MP3 anywhere near the car.
I love the tight turning radius, which is FOUR FEET tighter than the 6th gen Maxima.
I love my driver's seat that not only goes WAY back and WAY front, but also can go UP or DOWN.
I love the rear view mirrors that tilt down to see the curbs as I am parking.
I appreciate the turn lights in the outside mirrors.
I love the intelligent key, which enables me to lock or unlock the car from several hundred feet away, as well as lock or unlock the doors and trunk lid without having to take the keyfob from my pocket.
I love that folks I know and folks I have never seen before frequently stare at my car and make very complimentary remarks.
I love that I am still on my original tires, which ride exceptionally smoothly (NO vibration of any kind), and still have my original brake pads and rotors, which are performing exceptionally smoothly (NO vibration of any kind).
I love that my wife and I can drive this car six or seven hundred miles in one day, and still be very comfortable in these seats.

The leather, it is one of the nicest leather seats i've seen in a car, and I have tan leather and I have to say it looks great.
The way the car looks, I have to be honest and say I wasn't impressed when they car first came out but it grew on me and now I can't stop looking at it.
The PanoRoof, OMG I swearer with certain colors that roof creates such a beautiful contrast on the rest of the car it's amazing.
A/C driver seats, I love em' it's great to keep my back from getting sweaty.
My year and Model came with bluetooth streaming and I can control Pandora from the steering wheel HUGE thumbs up.
BEST part about that car
It allowed me to remain apart of one of the best car communities on the web. You guys are awesome.

Thanks for starting this thread... The "don't like" thread was depressing the h3ll out of me.
Thanks. Me too. That's what I didn't get about it since it's about the car not about the things you don't like about the car. I mean I get some of the complaints but I can't say enough that this car for this price is unbeatable. Similar 3 series bimmer or an A4 would cost at least 10k more. I don't think Maximas are in the same class with accords and camrys either. That's the Altimas on competition. Love this car.

Pish, I love this Maxima, just the little things, I guess the big question is would you buy it again knowing everything? My answer is yes!
Irish, with that color of your car you would get a lot from the Nanoskin wash. I love that Dark Grey color…

SR20 which gray?!?! I have a 2010 slate and a 2014 gunmetal ;-)
Is that a quick process. I wish I could detail like I used to. Half the time I go to those expensive car washes which I hate. I can wash, dry and wipe inside and out in 45 mins start to finish. But after that I run out of time! Can you explain in detail section or here? Thanks and glad you are back with a max. Read you're story of the deer and it was sad to see and hear...

To add to...
I love the AC seats
iPod adapter in console
Love, Love , Love the flared out back end. Love looking at it in the drivers side rearview mirror.
Leather is top notch
Still has the new car smell 4 months later
Bose Audio is better than expected
Dash layout is "techie" and Navi is perfectly placed
Navi gives speed limits (in most areas)
Last but not least the acceleration

Just set apart some time to do you car, I don't know how old your kids are but allow them to help
My little guy is 2 and he runs away with the hose, so right now he isn't all that efficient lol. Glad to be back, I've had a nissan since 1998 starting with the 1997 Sentra GXE, then 95' 200sx, 2000 Maxima and now my 2011 Maxima, so yes very glad to be here. I don't show it much but I'm not new to the Nissan brand.

I really like the total package. Power, handling, comfort, looks and great seats for traveling...at least they fit my wife and I very well. For the price, there is NOTHING comparable even after six model years with virtually no changes.
First post from me, but I've been lurking for a while
Everyone's already covered everything I love about my car, EXCEPT I'm absurdly pleased with the dark paint Nissan used as the base coat on mine. Instead of being glaring white, the few rock chips mine have are dark grey.
It's the little things

To all the above. My first public post other than the new member introduction (go read mine) :-)
I just love how this car looks. I have the super black and ill tell ya, when its all cleaned up, it looks amazing. Im also equally impressed how good this 3.5 sounds and how ive beaten every mercedes and even the new mustang with it. Sorry, thats the old racer in me coming out.
I love how fuel efficient this car is too. For premium fuel, it was worth it. The leather interior is something like out of a jet plane. Just love it with the cooled and heated seat. Dual roofs....ahhhh. love the nav and bluetooth along with the bose, quite impressed. And all 4 auto windows, something ive never seen in a car before. To be honest this is the nicest car ive had, and its a super plus to know that on maintanence, theres very little to do for a bit. Memory seats are a plus along with the usb and rwy connectors. I love the rear sunshade and didnt even know it was there. You know that feeling when you first get in a car and are afraid to touch the buttons because you dont know what they go to lol.
All n all, im very pleased to be a maxima owner and now a maxima member. Ill contribute always to the forum and let the fun begin.

Lightonthehill hit the nail on the head. Of all the things I like about my car, I love the looks. The styling is refined, yet sexy. And I also love the passing gear pull. I put my foot in it to pass, and I'm at 90 in a flash.
I'm glad this thread was started. I love mostly everything about my max.even before I did the mods to it I loved it. Now I just basically get wood every time I see it and get behind the wheel.
So depressing listening to all the negativity on here about a truly kick *** car.

Some people are never happy even when they have their cake and eat it too! Oh well... I didn't think the 4th gen was bad. Was it??? We owned to bluebirds when I was growing up in Ireland and they were wonderful cars. My dad was a jet pilot so he was definitely looking for a fun speedy sedan. I learned how to drive stick on a beach outside Dublin in those bluebirds and they were amazing. I think those were 3rd gen though but one was definitely fourth gen but European so...
So, I posted my rather minor dislikes in the other thread, it seems only appropriate that I share my likes as well. The reality is that they far outweigh the dislikes, and deserve a shout out. Besides I don't want BigIrish to think I was whining on the other thread! (J/K, don't really care what he thinks!)
1) There is something about the way that this car looks that 4 years later STILL turns my head...those broad back shoulders, the tuff looking front with those awesome shaped headlights....it just excites me everytime I look at it.
2) When I'm driving, and excited by how I know it looks, I know I am driving the hottest car on the road this side of $100k.
3) When I'm driving this hottest car, my nether regions are kept cool, calm and collected, so I am unlikely to engage in any Road Rage incidents.
4) Sound options on my SV are endless, radio, CD, box, bluetooth pandora, this helps keep me relaxed and cool in this hot car!
5) I am a big guy (6'4" 290) and the seats are comfortable. I love the lower seat support extension, and I love the knee room, forward and side to side. This is an issue for me in many, many cars. Steering wheel adjustment lets me perfect the ride so I look cool in this hottest of cars.
6) The double sun/moon roof is amazing, when open it makes the car seem enormous inside, but heats up this already hot car!
7) Passengers love all the room in the back (wink, wink, nod, nod)
8) Hey, I bought the car didn't I? So I must love it!
